I'm doing my usual leisurely Saturday - Ace brekker followed by a little jaunt if the weather gods play fair. Depending on which bike I'm on and what mood I'm in this can be just some goat-track exploration to a full-bore ride of over 200 miles.
See you all on Sunday at the Ace though! |

I want to check out a route in the Sussex environs - lunch in Brighton might be a nice finale. I'll decide nearer the time! (Will probably be on the GP800 as it's champing at the bit after a fortnight's neglect (unless the battery's gone flat)).

I just found out that bloody DHL have sent my seat back to Alan on the grounds that 'there wasn't a flat number on the address label' which i know to be a load of rubbish because we get deliveries all the time without the flat number - the courier just rings any old bell until he finds someone who is willing to take the parcel

missed you
Erm Doug is coming for the Donkei Skok weekend.
You missed that. How was your trip away? For the record if it's dry on Saturday the Vespa is going to Brighton and if it's wet/damp/drizzle I'm taking the cage so I'll be there regardless. Border what's the name of that cafe you were taking about last time near the seafront. Regards Bill |

Count me out of Saturday - two-hour driving lesson.
God I want to pass this rotten test. It's a time and money sink and it's so stressful. I was almost in tears in last night's lesson due to having forgotten over the course of the week how to turn around in the road. ARGH. |

Brighton? What?
I clearly missed loads. Alice, I feel for you, I'm considering doing my car license here as well. I'm gutted because I've been through all the shite back home when I was 18, and I passed first off (failed the theory one first time around), but NOW!... well because I've lived in the UK longer than 2 years I can't use my license, bla bla. Well I won't drive a car here anyway. But when I go on holiday I like to hire one. Well, now my brazilian license has expired, 2 years ago already. I could never be bothered renewing it whenever I visited my family because time is so tight, even though it always took only half a day apparently to renew it. I put it off and this time I was there doing nothing for 2 days, everyone was at work, so I thought I'd kill some time and go there sort it out. This way I'd have A license to hire a car with abroad and wouldn't have to spend a fortune redoing it here in the UK from scratch. Well, just as it happens, I was there the 4th March. As of 1st March, they changed how it works over there to renew it and I could no longer do the eyesight test at the DSA thingy branch over there. Which meant I had to go to a credited clinic. Only 2 in the city, queue of 700 people a day. Well, after I spent the morning there and gone over all the 5 steps of getting stuff stamped, signed, photo taken, £15 paid at the bank, receipt registered, etc etc, all I needed was the eye exam. For the love of God, get me to read that number plate there and I can! They were fully booked till the 20-March. I tried to bribe them and it didn't work. The "system" didn't allow them to print off the protocol till the 20th so there was no point anyone checking my sight. talk about bureaucracy. I asked my mum to go and pretend to be me but she wouldn't. so basically I lost my £15, my morning and I won't have my license renewed. I need to hire a car in July in Italy now I don't know what to do really. genie, can't believe you turned to the dark side - A PUSH BIKE?????????????????????????????? |

Doug your jacket now has a new zip for the sum of £45 and they say it's as good as new.
I may well take this garment to Europe if you can assure me it's waterproof. Not that it will rain of course. Regards Billy-no-scoot |

Bill - Good result.
Dessa - that's a bit of a pig about the licence. Get one here in the UK and it's good for (nearly) life, no more worries, so it might be worth jumping through the hoops. A huge plus in your favour is that you probably have a good clue about driving (assuming your Brazilian driving tests are better than Mumbai's) AND you have the observational skills of a PTW rider. You may find it'll be a doddle for you. |
