No its the entire right side panel that's got scratched in the finest Vespa tradition and the lower panel which has already been damaged on the opposite side by the pervious owner.

As I'm pretty positive person and believe that good things will always come out of bad but it does mean that I can get both panels done at the same time which means the damage that has always annoyed me on the opposite side can be sorted.

Alright I've got the nark because it's my fault but getting it back will give me something to look forward to.

Nick - My best mate is aleady on the way with a right sized sticker.

Thanks for the info Wonder.

Bill, so sorry to hear about your lovely Green Hornet's injuries.

I did this on my GT 125 a week after I got it. I was putting it on the centre stand in the rain and my foot slipped off the stand. It fell away from me and I fell over the top of it. I felt a right twat. Engine was still running. Didn't do any damage to the metal but the exhasut and the lower panel were scratched. Being black, it wasn't too difficult to touch up. I sold it to a friend and the first week he had it some a$$hole reversed into it and it landed on its cowl. Now looks like a rat bike. He isn't very good at maintenance and I service it at 8000 miles which was the only service it had had since the 600 mile one. Still runs like a champ.

In fact my friend isn't very good at organising. He still hasn't reapeated his CBT despite it having expired last August. And despite me reminding him every time I see him.

PS Did anyone else notice the disappearance of this thread for about an hour last night? Being completely paranoid, as I was one of the few regulars online, I thought I had done something to upset the powers that be!

It was still there, but it hid itself from view.

Jess rescued it for us so thanks to him!

Thanks
Yes it happened in exactly the same way as yours. My foot slipped off the mainstand and it fell forward but I couldn't rescue it.
My left arm and stomach will vouch for how much I tried to save it but to no avail, it landed on the right cowel, lower panel and crome trim which is now totally wankered.
I'm still spitting feathers about it and I know that tomorrow my mood will be even worse than it is now.
Being the man with no patience I've already badgered Wonder as to who did her paint and even text my paint man through work so he can cast his eye over it next week.
My mate Nick heard my of plight and arrived with a couple of huge stickers to cover up the damage but I know it's there lurking underneath so all the damaged panels will get a prep and a repaint.
Has anyone ever replaced the crome trim around the leg shield before ?
It will go to a bodyshop and it will go in an oven if I have my way.
I have 6 years no claims on my insurance which I'm not going to sacrifice so out of the childrens savings it will come, that is if I had any.
Ramble ramble bark bark etc etc.
Thanks for letting me rant.
Love to all

Straightforward if time consuming. Remove the inner legshield. Remove the panels beneath the cowls. Remove the outer rubbers from the floor. Remove the floor pan. Replace chrome trim.

For love it is then.

Once I've got over my major strop about letting the Hornet get away from me I'll decide who is going to paint it then get that trim sorted out.

Always happy to learn from the Master.

Much affection

Doug, can you go into a bit more detail here please?

As you may know, I require a trim change after our trip to France, and your description sounds rather daunting. I was going to pull the old one off and push the new one on.

Charles.

Do this first:

https://modernvespa.com/forum/wiki-glovebox-removal-gts

You can see the trim in the second last picture.

and here

remove the floorboard

Takes a couple of hours. Not especially difficult just time consuming.

who dares trims - in joke
OK sequence of events will take place as follows - mourn the loss of my close to perfect paint work for a few more days with plenty of self loathing thrown in for good measure then on the 18th give Wonders bottom oops paintwork a good once over then decide that her guy in Islington is the one who should do the repair then at an agreed date either visit or just hand it over then collect it a week later and bribe Doug with love and chips to fit the crome trim.

That will all probably change but it's a good start.

The guy in Islington is one of the best there is. They had repaired a 300 which had been crashed by the owner's friend on a "spin round the block". They have also done two pink ET4s for Scootech. Top jobs!

and also transport me everyday until then

Is it me or are none of us having a good weekend ?

The more I hear about this paint guy the more I think that he's going to do it.

Shame it's so far away for me but I'm sure I can work in a visit to see my favourite people when I drop off and collect the Hornet.

Love

Bill X

PS Doug for some special sause on your chips would you be willing to straighten out my headstock at the same time while the front end is off ?

It's almost there but a few mm's out and it's still enough to throw me.

What can I do for you ?

My girlfriend is starting to ask why I've had so many, and are planning even more meets with the DSSC.

Hard to answer I say but if she's not prepared to get on the back and meet all of you she'll never understand.

Doug I'm serious about the ride on the Mana. I promise not to shat you up because I have alot of respect for others equipment, and thier bikes.

Spider thank you for asking but Wonder is going to introduce me to the guy who did her paint when she found her's laying on it's side and I've only heard really good things about him so I'm giving him first dabs on it.
I appreciate you asking though.

That won't be necessary. My "dealership" is quite capable of doing a sterling (*free*) job. And yes, have done it before after a slip-up.

I think I get the joke as well. What a complete twat.
that's the bit I got as well!

Doug, the best teachers are as such, get them to do it themselves, very King of Wandsy! (tarot, dahrling)

Bill, if you come to Islington we have to meet in Norf London next time then, though I won't organise it or else it'll never materialise Razz emoticon Laughing emoticon

I'm having a rather nice weekend, how great it is to have all this spare time, I wish my full time job would just give me my salary and call me if they want to ask anything every now and then so I could always stay at home in my pijamas doing other stuff

I got loads done, paid road tax, insurance, did loads of work, emptied the laundry basket, cleaned the flat, slept, watched Bride Wars, ahhh the joys of staying in! 8) (I have such a hip lifestyle don't I)

yeah I'm in, there's a pub in kings cross I go to meet friends sometimes that's quite nice
well the pub in itself is not that special, but the irish owners are very friendly, the drinks are reasonably priced, there's seating outside with umbrellas and a parking bay right in front, so you can sit and stare at your bike.

it's The Dolphin, on Bidborough Street

Sorry Bill, I have a wedding to attend on that weekend, so I can't make it,

I would skip the wedding to meet you all but I've bought a dress already so best make use of it.
