Yeah you are. I like your use of the word blowhard by the way. Despite the connotations that may be taken by the usual crew here, my grandmother used the word when I was little, to mean someone who was full of shit (hot air). We need to start using the word regularly again.

a new little back panel (the ones that go near the 'tail' of the scooter, behind the lowers - then bill's guy is going to paint them for me)

I thought I should post to apologise for my no-show at the Pilot Inn last week. Sorry

I do however have lots of excuses. If you remember I accidently hit a guy the other week and I had a bruised leg, well I was in work last Tuesday (the day I was supposed to get my new 300) when my leg just gave out underneath me. I ended up in hospital for 3 days with internal bleeding in my ankle. I got home on Friday and my new 300 was delivered. I couldn't ride it because I couldn't stand up! (i had a quick ride around the block when my other-half was out ) Saturday and Sunday I was still laid up, I only got back to work Yesterday and I love the 300!! I have been riding as much as I can, when I can. I have done about 300km's in 2 .5 days and I am enjoying every minute of it.

To top it all off, my laptop died! I have just picked up a new one today.

Anyway I hope you all had a pleasant evening and you are enjoying the weather.

Is it just me or is the 300 seat uncomfortable?

I think Jess prefers the GT200 seat. I'm not convinced that there is a lot of difference.

Compared to the LX it is. The LX has a great seat, best of all scooters I have ridden, so comfy and I love the curry hook on it.

The 300 is great but you are right that the seat nowhere near as comfortable and the curry hook sucks.

The LX doesn't have the power, but it is kinder to your bottom.

Sadly I think the lovely Crystal who used to make these things is currently taking a break otherwise you could ask her. Sure you could make one yourself with your tailoring skills.

Vespa aren't bad comfort wise, and are rather better than some others scooter brands. The 300 isn't bad compared to its rivals.

Honda makes seats out of compressed rocks and bottles. They are so hard and uncomfortable that my back is in bits when I ride one for more than an hour or two. This pretty much happens on every Honda I have ridden and is a major factor as to why I won't buy a SH 300, along with the fact the leg room on Honda is paltry. Ergonomically hateful.

I actually find my Honda more comfortable than the GTS now. The ergonomics are perfect for me, but then I've probably got Italian/Japanese sized legs.

I think for my friends (who regularly question my sexuality due to my vast collection of shoes and man-bags) this may be a step too far.

I have obviously become accustomed to the LX luxury seat. It's not like the GTS seat is unbearable, It is just me being an old fishwife.

In all other departments the GTS is superior to the LX. But by far my favourite difference is the sound. (I just love the sound of starting my GTS) The sound of the engine taking a leisurely stroll down a 3 lane carriage way is much preferable to the screaming high-pitch of the LX.

I know an old-skool tough hairy biker who went gaga over my furry seat cover and set about trying to get one for his Honda C90

marc, congrats on the 300!

actually Crystal is the only woman i know of who is in the scooter seat-sewing business... all the rest are men if you don't want to get into questionable sexuality terrain, you can say that you're 'upholstering' the seat to suit your needs, rather than announcing that you are going to crochet a comfy slipcover etc.

actually the most comfortable scooter seat i've ever put my bum on has been the one off my ET4. My GT200 seat caused me excruciating back pain until I got a magnetic bracelet - all of the pain completely disappeared within 24h of putting it around my wrist. no joke. I think that the slight incline towards the back of the seat is the culprit - the 300 has the same thing. it looks sexy but forces an unnatural curve into your back. you could pull up the cover, shave it down, and put the cover back on - there are a few people on the site that have done that. it doesn't look quite as aerodynamic but it's much more comfortable apparently.

sling a Leo Vince pipe on there and you'll be in a whole new wonderful world of sound. I absolutely adore the sound of my GT200 with the LV on it - the stock exhaust sounds like a wind-up toy by comparison.

I'm not mad about the seats on the Vespas, the Aprilias on the other hand, both Alex's old Habana Custom and his Scarabeo have the comfiest seats ever
They are so soft, just feels like a proper couch. They have a great shape and the Habana was the perfect height for me to put the foot down flat and so soft too!

I find my LX seat a bit hard and slippery, I have to keep repositioning myself on the seat as i ride along. Also is it my imagination or does it repel water?
During those real rainy days the bike would be all wet and the seat was dry!

i'm afraid i've got no theories about growing and showing - i think i'd need to hang around more men's locker rooms in order to get an accurate spread of data.

as i recall from our pub conversation and dessa's theories, your hands indicated that you are 'mr. america', whilst bill's indicated that he is carrying a coke can around in his trousers. i have no plans on asking either of you to verify that but it's good to know in case of, erm, emergencies. or something.

agree with genie it's a personal preference, remember genetics and Darwin, they're only as long or as wide as needed!

Hey Dessita,
Its good to be back and its even better to be riding again! My LX seat would froth in the wet! For some reason when it rained it would foam up, I think some cleaning product was used on it in the showroom which absorbed into the seat and then bubbled in the rain!
