I no longer have any keys to my vespa lx150. is there any good solution besides spending several hundred dollars to replace the cdi ect that the dealer provides? I would greatly appreciate any help on this as I can't afford the dealers solution.

*blank look* Seriously? No keys means not even the brown one.

I've found this forum is reluctant to help people who've lost their keys.

The OP posted at 4:15 AM (ET) on a Sunday night - people are sleeping. I'm the only crazy goon up still. The UK and europe guys will come online in a couple hours, they'll hopefully have some ideas.

I'm no key expert, but I think you're gonna have to replace the CDI if you lost the brown key.

Sorry to hear - but you'll learn from this. There is a thread here that implores people to get copies made!!!

I went to bed last night at 11 and woke up at 4. I have no idea what my sleep schedule is, but I have to be at school shortly.

?? I'm confused. Isn't the OP james knight??? Did you lose your keys too or are you just talking generally about sleep schedules?

Sorry, I didn't see the "OP" in your message. I show that the OP posted at 8:04 am on Monday October 27th. Sorry for the derail.

So, you have an ET4, an LX150 and a GTS250ie according to the blurb under your avatar, and you can't afford the money to replace the CDI?

Unfortunately then, you are completely out of luck, as there is absolutely no other way of doing it.

Good point dougl65 - I'd say sell the ET4 and buy a new CDI! You'll still have the LX150 and the GTS!

James: You are S.O.L.

Your only options are:
1. Find your "Key Card" and send it to Jim. He can cut you a key from the numbers on the card.
2. Buy a new CDI & ignition switch
3. Find your brown key

There is NO WAY to circumvent the immobilizer.

This reminds me, I should get a couple spares made while my scooter is in hibernation....this would suck.

That still won't have the right RFID code. The code card is solely for the cutting of the key.

So a new lockset and CDI/immobiliser unit is required. Be prepared to prove ownership of the bike...

When you get your new CDI and lockset, be sure to have jimh make you a spare or two. He will send you all the info including the electronic code and the Piaggio code. With those codes he can make you keys even if you lose the brown one.
