Hi all! Been busy and haven't logged in in quite awhile. Hope all our northern hemisphere folks are keeping warm. It's been getting a bit chilly in the mornings here. Which brings me to the point of my post....

Anyone know how much draw there is on a heated riding suit and/or gloves? I'm thinking of picking up some heated gear and a 12v outlet splitter to run various combos of heated gear/GPS/satellite radio but don't want to overwhelm the charging system.

Preferably, I could have a heated suit and gloves, GPS, and radio all running at once. But I've done the dead battery push twice already and would rather not repeat.

Heated jackets tend to be about 60W, so a maximum of a 5A draw. Gloves probably about 2A each, GPS is negligible, radio maybe 1A. So a guessitimate of 10A - well within the 500's charging ability.

Thanks Jim. That's also well within the 20A fuse I installed on that outlet.

Wonder if I could install a beverage warmer in my cup holder.... hehe just kidding.

They make thermos type mugs that come with heating elements built into them and plug into 12v outlets. If you get down the bay more let me know and I'll meet up with you. I have one new, unused in the box you're welcome to.

Wow, learn something new everyday.

Generous offer smrf, thanks. Doubt I'll have much time to take you up on it. Buying a new house and have a kid on the way. That's why I've been absent from the forum.
