I picked up my silver '08 GT200 a week or so ago and I'm just LOVING it! The power, the smoothness of the ride, the fantastic looks. I just keep geeking out over it every time I ride it.

I did have to learn something the hard way though. Do not overfill the gas tank! Over the weekend I filled up, spilled a little, didn't think it was a big deal. An hour later, the GT wouldn't start. Once it did start, it was like it was starved for fuel. It would bog intermittently, and at one point it died outright. I limped back home and figured I'd have to wait for Scooterville to open on Tuesday.

After some MV research, I found the EVAP hose and air filter threads. So yesterday I pulled the evap hose to let it drain (smelled petrol immediately), and also pulled the cover off of the air filter. Sure enough, there was a greasy, dripping good half cup of petrol in the bottom corner of the filter. I soaked it out into some paper towels, put everything back together, reconnected the evap hose, and it fired up to ran like a dream.

The other, albeit less stressful, lesson that I learned was that taking the time to adjust the rear suspension to your weight makes a huge difference in the stance and composure of the scooter. I'm riding in position three now and the difference is night and day. Love it.

Long live the GT! And thanks to MV and everybody who's suffered through this issue before me and come here to talk about it. My scooter probably would have been at the dealer for a week while they tried to figure out what the deal was.

Good on ya for using the resouces of the board (and search function, too!).
You and I are running the same rides - expect mine are both "current" status. I love, love love the GT and am actually IN love with my P. I'm glad you are feeling similarly - thanks for posting your tips.

Congrats on the GT. Tis' a wonderous machine.

RE: Overflow of gas. I have that a read that a quite a few people have done this on MV.

I've got to the stage where some (very little in fact) fuel has spilled into the "no pets carrier" but not that it has ever effected the ride?

When you guys / gals say "overfill" do you mean like a "flood"???

Maybe, the Australian Nozzles are a lot smaller and fit better.....

Congrats from another GT guy. We need to stick together, as we are now substantially outnumbered by the all-too-common GTS

Enjoy your GT!

And of course today I notice the huge warning sticker next to the fuel cap.

There'a another whole thread telling how to fill up a GT or GTS without having o'flow problems! Laughing emoticon

Basicially it says, place the handle directly over the pet carrier (the hole under the seat) and insert the nozzle into the tank from this direction (ONLY)! Then squeeze lightly... This way the pump almost always shuts off automatically when the tank is full. Do not, repeat, DO NOT then try to fill the tank up further by squeezing in a few more squirts!

After a while it becomes second nature, and you won't dread gas stations anymore...

Yeah, I think on my first fill up I did it that way simply by accident. I was relieved that I would be able to use the pump cutoff and not overflow - which made my overflow on the next tank that much more surprising. On the Blur, you can actually see in while you're filling, which is super helpful. I'll employ that method from here on out and hopefully not have to deal with this again. But if I do, I at least know how to fix it now and could do it on the fly if necessary.
