I know it's been unseasonably cold and everything...but...I didn't see THAT coming!!

Really heavy snow tonight, first time I've ever known it to snow in London in October. Being completely unprepared my ride home from Camden tonight was 'interesting' to say the least! Back wheel all over the place, scraping snow off my visor, arrived home like the abominable snowman. I'm not going to be doing that again in hurry

Nellie is parked outside with an inch or two of snow all over her. Hope she'll start in the morning...

Anyone else get caught out?

I heard about snow in some parts of the Midlands but Nottingham / Derby corridor is clear if a little nippy. Frost on the seat this morning and a little rain but apart from that okay. Still, a little chilly for this time of the year.

Inconceivable!

Here in the Land of the Lotus Eaters my thermometer read 97 degrees Fahrenheit when I was out riding today.

We could really use some cooler weather.

Pass on the snow, though.

Uh... I guess if it was 97 Celsius I wouldn't be writing this, huh?

i was sitting in my study with the blinds down while it was all kicking off. didn't even know it was snowing until i got out the front door this morning to find gobs of the white stuff all over the road. my first thought was 'where the hell did that come from?' What The? emoticon i thought it must've dropped off the back of a lorry or something.

ride to work was uneventful apart from a very large, very deep, and partially frozen puddle that i smashed through at the bottom of my road.

Cold but okay. It is the slush which freezes overnight that is lethal. So be careful on the way home and tomorrow morning if there is a frost.

I did see several Vespas riding in this morning with little white coats of snow.

When I was in London, England on my school holiday in fall of 1979 it snowed,
I walked my uncles dog in Barnes common and left my footprints behind.

Has it not snowed this early since 1979?

I don't think it has!

I escaped the snow because I'm south of the river, the balmy Riviera of London (Actually we just got freezing rain instead.)

Not sure when in the fall/Autumn that was Big Foot but according to the weathermen it's the first time we've seen snow in London in October since 1934 or something....hence why I kind of wasn't expecting it

mpfrank, you could be writing this if it was 97 degrees Celsius, but you'd be in a sauna and your laptop would probably be melting...

after recomposing myself from mpfrank's SHOWING OFF ( Razz emoticon ) I can share my shock too
I was listening to the radio in the shower and the dude was mentioning snow. i thought he was joking.
so I sat at the couch and mentioned it "apparently it's snowing" to which the man leapt off his seat to go cover George - then I went to check and was gobsmacked
here are the pictures... hehe

this morning Shirley gave me a bit of grief.
She started first off though, but was very sluggish for the first mile, even though I warmed her up for about 5 minutes.

still though, all the losers at work were half an hour late because the pathetic trains they journey on were all over the place hehe
I actually enjoyed the ride this morning, made full use of my new winter gear, love my Termoscud long time....

Oct 28th; one of the first times it's ever snowed in October, in NJ/USA too! Some of our areas got a mini blizzard, with snow up to 14"!

And our dumb USA weather reporters on the TV just giggle and say oh my, isn't this interesting! Nary a one of them has the balls to whisper anything at all about how global warming is changing our weather patterns so often! They're so overly beholden to big corporate interests our newscasters would probably be giggling on the rear deck of the Titanic as it when down, so as not to burden the rich owners..!

Wasn't Parliament in the middle of it's third reading for it's Climate Change Bill during the snow storm?

I guess it would be difficult to take seriously, someone telling you that the world's temp is likely to raise 2 deg. centigrade when outside the window, the earliest snow on record is falling.....

global warming my arse

on a more positive note, wilma has been an absolute trooper - i think she actually likes the cold, and starts on the first try every time. runs a little boggy for a few minutes but she hits her stride by the time i'm at the first traffic light along my route.

The engines love the cold air.

It's so miserable outside I'm even humming and harring about joining some mates at the Redhill beer festival this evening, even though I'll get in free:

Just got back from a week in Vancouver, yesterday. While on layover in TO, there were flights being delayed/canceled because of condx in Québec city.

Got up this A.M., and took Salope for a spin to charge her battery. Lots of sun, cool but no snow so far.

No beer festival for me. I didn't fancy a 20 mile ride to be confronted by 40 different wonderful brews that I couldn't sample properly because I was riding. Especially in the cold.
