We just had this question asked last week... and have had a total of 5 polls on it now ( which is an absolute mind-fuck to me ). I think there's even more than what my search for "poll age" turned up.

Dont you follow elections, polls change every day in this country. Plus we all have gotten older since the last poll. Furhtermore, since the last poll dissapeared so quick, it is not reilable

If i sound annoyed, it's only because 1 more age poll and we're going to have to register the domain name "ModernVespaAgePoll.com", change the name of the website, and all of us are going to have to update our browser bookmarks. And i hate having to do that.


No more age polls. Put your face in your avatar. It's an easy way of telling who is an oldster and not to be trusted.

Running the statistics on this distribution produces an average age of 49
(And the 40 yr olds are back--they must have been on vacation in August )

I've aged a "year" since the last poll, 45 to 46. Old data unreliable. Time for a new poll.

Sometimes I wish there were a way to respond w/o bumping the thread to the top for those times when you can't hold your tongue, but you don't want to add life to a thread. Now is such a time.

Basically from what I can remember about my maths lessons years ago you will need to pm every MV member, ascertain their age, total all the ages and divide it by the number of members and there you have it

What is the average age of people who use cartoons as their avatars?

Polls on this topic are useless and unnecessary.

This is clearly a data collection issue. To get good data and deal with the dynamic aspects of summarizing age into appropriate groupings, we need Jess to update profiles to make birth date (with year) mandatory, with a corollary requirement to provide corroboration - perhaps driver's license, ssn or what not - then run statistics on current age from that data. The slice and dice could get very interesting when additional data domains are added to the analysis - such as typical posting patterns by age group, etc. One could begin to make predictive statements regarding a specific users tendency to make snarky comments based on demographics.

Aye matey. I was 45 last week, but did not vote in poll. (Hanging head in shame or maybe high and proud that I resisted a poll. Resisting urge to ask poll type question.) Over the weekend I became this many (flashing open hands to indicate 46). Hence the "I've aged a "year"" comment. Aaargh. Now all you scallywags, get back to work.

Speaking of redundancy, I can't believe your awesome good great goodly good fortune!

But how else could I get to 300 words on my report that had to be 300 words? In other words, if the teacher placed a minimum of 300 words to be used on a report for a given subject, I found myself repeating, er, emphasizing certain points -- for clarity. So you see, redundancy is quite necessary.
