Winter's coming and I was thinking I might mount a thermometer so I can get a feel for the outside temperatures.... what's cold vs what's unbearable..... what to wear etc.

Anyone have advice on how you've done it and what's a good, accurate thermometer?
Thanks

I just put my g-friend's chihuahua, Alfonso Peabody, outside in the morning and count how many seconds until he wants to get back in.

If that wee hairless dog is scratching on the door in 10 seconds or less, i better put on a heavy coat + hat.

I have a device I got for Christmas last year...tells me the temp outside and in my house....It's right next to my alarm clock. I found the morning news to be very unreliable....5 degrees difference make a huge difference when you include wind factor....brrrrr.

On piece is mounted on the wall outside....I have mine under the eave of my house...that's not good in summer because the heat sits up under there. It's pretty accurate for winter.

The holidays are upon us...add it to your list for Santa.

I would also like to mount an outside temp gage on my BV. If anyone has any links to some good temp gadgets that would be cool.

I loved having an external digital temperature feature on my GTS but lately I've been riding the BV more. I think its kind of silly that some one at Piaggio actually thought it would be a good idea to have a digital display that tells the date of all things instead of the temperature?!

Easy. Buy a GTS and subtract about 4 degrees F from whatever it says.

i have got a Ferrari Oregon Scientific clock that has a remote thermometer for the outside and displays the temp outside/inside and a digital barometer and the time is set to the atomic clock setting too... so when time changes it change automatically.... plus it projects the Ferrari logo and time on the wall.

I have one from La Crosse Technologies that I've been using for about six years. It has been great.

They make them as simple or as complicated as you like.

Highly recommended by a weather geek.... me

I had one of those round plastic gauges from Aerostitch mounted on top of a brake reservoir cover, but during the Summer, I felt like it was always reading too hot. Besides, when riding, the needle jumped all over the dial from vibration. I have an atomic clock/temperature gauge thing at home that I look at before I suit up. It's pretty reliable.
