Does anyone know of a lap blanket for the MP3 500?
I'm looking for something that attaches like a thermoscud.
I travel about 140 miles a day on the highway so the scooter skirt is too billowy.
Thanks!

Hey I found it!
They make a Termoscud for the MP3 500: http://www.tucanourbano.it/main/termoscud.aspx It's just listed under the Gilera Fuoco. Looks sweet too. Picture of the Termoscud for the MP3 500

Yes, the OEM brand fits the 500. This week I received 100% confirmation from the distributor that the cover fits the Fuoco.
I saw some great photos of the product on a MP3 400. I like this cover (vs. the Tucano) because it does not have to attach around your neck like an apron. You have to drill holes to install the snaps, but if you were concerned with looks you wouldn't have an MP3. Check out the Piaggio leg cover at: http://www.scootercrazy.com/acatalog/Piaggio_Leg_Covers___Scooter_Covers.html |

I would never buy a bike that I thought was ugly. It would be like marrying a girl I thought was ugly. I must admit that the one you link to is verynice though. Piaggio leg cover - heated

My sincere apologies for calling your scooter ugly. I meant that mine is the ugly one.
I liken the MP3s to the pug dog breed. It's an acquired taste. I had my first MP3 500 sighting in my area yesterday. I have to say I got excited and almost took off like a stocker to find out where the like minded person lived. My kids talked me down and redirected me to dropping them off at school. So, even though part of me finds the MP3 exterior slightly repulsive, there is another part of my brain that finds the machine attractive in a visceral way. |

But get over it... the 500 is an ugly beast. That is attractive to some and nothing to worry over. May get one myself one day. If they make it prettier...lol But mellow out, you only have 8 posts....just relax and enjoy it here....and again...welcome! You will learn alot here....i did. |

Yeah, I think it's just one of those internet misunderstandings.
That's why I put in all these smileys so people know I'm usually at least chuckling while I'm typing. ( see like that) And I'm rarely mellow and don't particularly want to be. And I still say it's not ugly. And I never asked for an apology, I just think scootermeister was being extremely gracious. Now, once I put the Termoscud on and start driving along with a giant bib... That, I think will pretty well be universally agreed upon as at least hyper-dweeby if not truly ugly! Maybe I can cool it up with a sticker of Calvin peeing on something... Calvin peeing on stuff makes my bike cool, right? Wait.. does it still count if he's a stormtrooper?

First a comment in line with the original posting "MP3 Lap Cover". I need one for my mild climate riding and my research has concluded this is the best product given my primary criteria of not standing out like a complete social outcast.
I felt the need to throw in that first comment so the forum purest would not flame me for going off point. Kbrocx, "Giant Bib"...that's the attitude. I almost wet myself. People who are attracted to the MP3 obviously has a strong self confidence and don't bow to the social pressures to be seen in more conventional modes of transportation. You are obviously a self assured person who doesn't give a rat's behind if the guy/gal in the GMC Denali next to you at the light has raised eye brows at the sight of a fellow commuter on a scooter...with a skirt. 13 years ago I bought a Portuguese Water Dog because I loved the form and function of the obscure breed. Back then I was shunned by some for not having a traditional American breed (e.g., Lab, Golden, etc.) I love my Poodly looking dog and only now as Labradoodles and Goldendoodles are becoming trendy do people give me the time of day. (The point being, that MP3's are just a head of their time here.) I drive a Mini-van and have a Poodle "like" dog. I obviously don't have strong concern about others people's perception of me. To drive that point home, I just installed baglux muffs on the MP3. So I will appear to be wearing oven mitts in additional to the skirt. Top that for letting your Freak Flag Fly |

Oven mitts... that's good.
I also ordered some oven mitts when I ordered my bib! A girl at work rides her vespa to work all year round and she has the mitts, the motorcycle cops here wear them too. I think they call them "hippo-hands" but that may be the brand. Mine were from Urbano Tucano like my bib. I just got the normal ones but they have ones that look like paws and sharks too. da mitts!
