so, my neighborhood is pretty evenly split politics wise this time around.

last night, some enterprising young fellow went around the neighborhood and switched everyone's campaign signs to the opposing party.

i had quite the chuckle this morning when i went outside with morning coffee. i asked my neighbor if he wanted to switch back signs (he has mine and i have his) and he was like 'eh, what's the point, it's more fun this way,' so we left them.

it's now going on 3 hours since the discovery and almost everyone on the block left them alone. it's good to see some people still have a sense of humor.

Can I move to your neighborhood. My neighbors are getting their signs stolen and blaming people in the neighborhood but honestly I think it is people from outside the neighborhood taking signs because it is on the news that it is happening all over the city.

I think someone even painted the Obama symbol on their lawn so someone couldn't steal it. I would be tempted to go over there and paint it green and then paint the McCain symbol. That would be funny.

I see a lock coming quickly...and I don't think that would be funny at all!

I was a high school senior taking Government during a presidential election year. We stole hundreds of political signs, regardless of the party, and stuck them in our teachers yard one night.

He was a cool guy but didn't think that prank was so funny.

that's a cool story. in the last town i lived in, there was a guy who would try to get a campaign sign from everybody running, and he would put all of them in his yard every year. the newspaper would always run a pic of it.

Hey guys, this topic is fine as it is quite funny in fact. However, staying away from politics includes that we do not state what our "political party" is as well as staying away from potentially politically divisive topics. Thus a few posts have been removed for that reason. Thanks for your cooperation.

edit: I had some time to reread the posts and noted that I was incorrect. There was no identification of one's political party in the post. Upon reflection of this I restored those posts as you can now see.

I've noticed that the people around here with the 1 really "hot button" issue signs in their yard (hint: it's a Prop, not a candidate) take them inside overnight.

Sorry about that. I wasn't intending to state my political party and I don't think I did. I was just stating the opposite of what the lady had painted on her lawn. I shouldn't have mentioned specifics.

I would never do it. I wouldn't be surprised if someone did it.

halloween shenanigans have just kicked off in scenic east london .... many of the local shops were refusing to sell eggs or flour to under-16s but it hasn't stopped the more enterprising yoof from chucking flour and egg bombs all over the neighbourhood. anybody gets flour on the scooties is going to be made to eat the whole bag

That's funny! If this happened in the neighborhood where I teach in South Los Angeles, people taking the signs or switching them would get shot!

Seriously though, I've seen this happen in the past in my neighborhood, just too funny.

I like this guy's ingenuity. After getting his signs stolen, he decided to run a little current through it. Here's a video of it.

This reminds me of this shocking beer can that I have, it's absolutley hilarious watching my friends pick it up...it really does sting!

Not on my block and there's signs for both sides. Though the wind last night took a bunch of them out.... Left early for work so no idea if anyone's pointing fingers over that.

I've never been there. I go to Nantucket about once a year though.

if you ever go there, there is a fish restaurant right next to the gay's head lighthouse. best crab cakes i have ever had in my life. i used to go there 3 or 4 times a week.

That's pretty funny. My neighborhood is all the same signs-wise so no one would notice if they were switched around.

I know how the presidential election is going to turn out here in Massachusetts.

I just can't wait to see if the voters decriminalize marijuana. HeHeHe

I'm just thankful that I live in a place with no front lawns, so this issue doesn't come up. I'm all for Halloween hi-jinks, though.

I was THIS CLOSE to doing that with my sign, which, as of a couple of days ago, has been stolen 4 times.

After the second time, I concreted the wire frame into the ground and super glued the plastic sign sleeve onto the frame. This apparently pissed the perps off, considering they mangled the hell out of my third sign and wire frame, but were still unable to remove either. After straightening it all out, I lined the wire with a mixture of molybdenum grease and dog poo...anyone who's gotten even a dab of moly grease on their skin can attest that it takes a bit of scrubbing to get that stuff off. A few days ago my fourth sign went missing (they were able to get the plastic sleeve off the frame)...though my neighbor found it this evening in the tall grass across the road. Considering they didn't outright steal the sign this time, I'm hoping some of that grease/poo got on their hands and they figured "ah, to hell with it."

I love election season.

No one in my hood really has any signs out just one or two. I did want a bunch of signs to put in my buddies yard though. but didn't really want to litter.

I found this entertaining on the evening news from Sacramento:

Ginni Jeglie said she would put out an official "Obama '08" campaign sign in her front yard, but every morning her children would wake up and find the sign was taken.

So, the Jeglies decided to put up a sign that said, "If you take our sign we will donate money to the Obama campaign."

When that sign was stolen, the Jeglie kids made 100 "Obama '08" signs on index cards and put them in the front yard, while Ginni Jeglie donated money to Obama's campaign for every sign that was previously stolen.

My favorite lawn sign: There's a gentleman running for some odd seat here (official plumber.... I don't know) but his name is "Lotts" His signs read:

"VOTE LOTTS"

I love that, for some reason it tickles my funny bone!
