I just got back from a trip to Shanghai, and being the newbie that I am, was obsessed with the scooter culture there. What I noticed was an abundance of "Forever" scooters that have LPG fueled engines. No, that is not a stainless steel topcase, but the LPG tank. Also, most of the scooters there have ABS which was cool too. No Vespas as of yet, but a pretty obsessed culture that likes to graphic/sticker the heck out of their scooters.

I believe the stickers and customizations are so they can tell their scooter from the 1,000 others that are parked side by side in the same parking lot. Spent a couple weeks in Ho Chi Minh City this spring, the three gabillion scoots there were almost all Honda Wave, Honda Dream, or Wave/Dream look-alike clones ... I always wondered how they tell them apart.

I wonder what that guy on the red & white one has on his foot rest. It looks like maybe a placemat with his lunch on top.

I zoomed in and it is a red wheel lock and a section of green garden hose on top of a dish towel! Also notice the cigarette in his left hand. The other guy mounted an aluminum bicycle water cage below the right front edge of his seat. nice!

Maybe all the sitckers makes a crappy POS look cool? I'm hesitant on putting any stickers on my Vespa. Looks like a portable BBQ in the top case slot. Must be great for pre-game tailgate parties. No Helmet laws?

Oh Kymco Cobra-Cross clones....why must you ruin the rep of a good scooter? Crying or Very sad emoticon

That's not ABS...that's the same "ABS" systems the Chinese scoots over here have. It should stand for "Anti-Braking System". While the system does prevent you from locking up your disc brake, it does so by shunting braking power/pressue away from teh disc calipers....effectively decreasing your braking power suddenly and sharply. Not the kind of thing I'd want to happen in an emergency braking situation, the exact situation where I want the most braking power possible.

Have to say tho, the LPG technology on those scoots sounds pretty cool.

Sorry to bash kymco and sym's. I think that if a scoot like rthose models canmake iot across on the Cannonball and do okay, have proven themselves.
