Other than on initial "take-off" is there really a noticeable power difference between the 400 and 500?

I have the 400 and it seems adequate, but curious if the 500 engine makes a big difference in acceleration and top speed etc.

The 500 has about 20% more power, so if you want to pass or pull out fast you have more power with the 500. I bet you get a little better gas milage with the 400. With my windscreen I get about 55mpg with my 500. the main reason I bought the 500 is that I like the way it looks better than the 400.

My gas mileage is not much better than yours. My last tank was only 54 mpg. The one prior was 61. I think overall I am at about 56-57 at most.

Part of me is sorry I did not get the 500, but I wanted the extra storage. As it turns out I added a box, and between that and the seat I rarely use the rear "trunk." I do keep my wet weather gear, reflective vest and an extra helmet there all the time so I suppose it is useful.

The 400 seems adequate power wise, but a bit more would be nice, especially when starting on an incline etc.
