Modern Vespa

Hello All,

My Favorite wife and I decided to ride to Mt Lemmon today. Weather was 42 degrees F when we started this morning and was 82 degrees F when we returned. Perfect weather for as you can see not a cloud in the sky. Mt Lemmon is located high in the Catalina Mountains outside of Tucson, Arizona in the Coronado National Forest. It was 26 miles of twisties to get from the desert floor to an elevation of 8600 ft. Pure Bliss..

nice! i almost moved to Tucson like 15 years ago. actually i guess it was Oro Valley. i was only 11 though. i recall seeing mt. lemonn from where our house was going to be.

Beautiful on both counts...that you were riding with your favorite wife and that you had such a nice place to ride.

Tucson is a unique place. Even though it has 1,000,000 people living in the city limits and surrounding areas of Pima County, it still has that small, one horse town feel to it. This as opposed to Phoenix which seems like LA East. Worlds apart separated by 110 miles of I-10.

This was my second ride to Mt Lemmon on my MP3. The first was when I was a newbie on my MP3 and did not get a chance to enjoy it as much. I do remember having trouble staying up with the other riders and could barely get to the posted speed limit of 35 to 50 mph. Now with the J-Costa Variator, the change was sooooo noticable. I was able to sustain posted speed limits with no lugging the engine and that was riding with a passenger. My Favorite wife and I are both very "healthy" people Impressive. (( I was going to say my first wife but decided against it.))

Mt Lemmon was almost completely destroyed by the Aspen fire of 2003.

Over 100,000 acres burned. It is now starting to come back. It still was a great ride. Very impressed with my MP3. Was going to get the first MP3 800 when it becomes available in Tucson. Now I may wait until the bugs are worked out. My how I enjoy riding my MP3..

My next ride is going to be to Kitt Peak. I will keep you all posted.

Mt. Lemmon makes Tucson a unique place. I drove up it several years ago. If I go through there on my west coast trip next spring I'd like to do it on my MP3.

If you do, please make sure you take the time to also go to Parker Canyon Lake.
