OK my 2 cents...I gotta go with joechi on this. I am sure the people he ordered from are really really nice and I wish them no ill. But if a company does business on the internet and accepts payment on the internet...it should never process said payment (and I assume this is one of joechi's complaints) until the product is pulled and shipped. And if there is a delay the customer should be notified in the medium that they order....aka email which is the usual internet form of communication. The customer (joechi) should not have to take additional steps to contact the person who just took money for a product or service that they have not produced and it is appropriate for joechi to complain about it anywhere if he/she sees fit.
Customer service is on the service/product supplier and not on the customer (this is still the US right?). I also don't think it is wrong of joechi to talk about the experience in a forum like this. It seems joechi has outlined exactly what has happened and has a legitimate gripe. Bottom line is that no matter what the size of the internet company they should do two things: 1. Don't process a credit card payment until the product is shipped. 2. Notify the customer of problems promptly. Had they followed those two basic rules there would be no problem and this thread would not exist. Addition: If Jettin is really a part time, we will get to your order when we can but will alway deliver a good product outfit (which is what I hear they are) then they should make that abundantly clear, if they don't already, to customers who may not be saavy to this. |

Yeah, I didn't take it as a threat. Doesn't hurt to give us a reminder once in awhile when we look like we may be approaching a boundary. Thanks for doing what you do to keep this forum a place that is worth coming back to.
I recently went to a forum at treehuggers.com thinking that I might find some good threads on alternative energy but all I found there were a bunch of hot head flamers with an agenda...even some of the moderators. Needless to say I don't go there anymore. |

if you're really in a big hurry to fix that variator you may wanna consider this:
https://www.pmtuning.co.uk/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PT&Product_Code=04-PM9404&Category_Code=PMVARIATOR looks just like an oil-filter can removal tool you can pick up at most decent DIY stores. |

***UPDATE***
My wife received an email from John at Jettin. He apologized and said he would refund our money and sent the part out. As soon as we receive the part and/or refund, I will post another update. The variator on the scooter was screwed up from the dealer repair (right now it takes off so slow that a turtle could out run it). I believe the dealer took off the variator and tried to fix rollers and put it back on instead of putting a new on e on. I've had a J. Costa sitting in my garage for for 3 months collecting dust. Just need tools to get the job done. Is the clutch holding tool necessary? |

I'll be happy when the part gets here. Does anyone know if you need the clutch holding tool to install the J Costa (I know you all like the impact tool but I don't have one and don't plan on getting one right now).

I'd try a strap-style wrench as Chillicrab suggested. Maybe the rubber ones are too flexible, and the one at PM Tuning works because it doesn't stretch (looks like leather but might be synthetic). Will be worth trying if you don't mind taking a chance on cracking the case open and then closing it right up again if the tool doesn't work.

It has now been past 1 month and no refund or item received from Jettin. I have determined that this company is frauding customers and I have reported them Paypal since they use Paypal's shopping cart and payment processing to take people's money like me. Their promises hold no water as they do not follow through with anything they say.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE BUY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF. I don't care what their buddies here on this forum think (obviously they have friend here defending them). Your posts are worthless as this is not your money so you can blah blah blah all you want about how I need to feel sorry for them. If you really felt sorry for this "scooter toy company", you'd get off your fat arse and help them get things working. FACTS: They took $72 of mine and gave me a BIG FAT NOTHING in return. Buy from someone legitimate. |

I have to agree with joechi, he is doing other people a favor if Jettin is having issues shipping products. I got some bling dip sticks from them last year with no problems but if they are having issues today then people should be informed. I too would be upset if they took my money (in any amount) and didn't deliver.

If joechi had been waiting 2 months or more to receive his part and hadn't I could see being upset and demanding his product or his money. I would sympathize with him. As it is, he is complaining that his needs were not satisfied immediately by on online retailer. If you cannot allow a standard 6-8 week delivery time (and be happy if it shows up sooner) then you should stick to buying things from an actual store. It has only been 4 days since his last post about the email from Jettin and sending the part out, only 2 business days. Order online, expect a 6-8 week delivery time. Calm down, and wait. Light a candle, relax, try a nice long Ohhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmm |
