I started yesterday off right. I went to the dealer to pick up my new Siena Ivory GTV! She has been dubbed "Clarice." It feels like this scooter was made for me, what a wonderful ride!! The Vespa is so stable and solid compared to the other scoots I've had, it's almost rediculous. I feel so spoiled now. Put 60 miles on her already, and 40 of that was just getting home.

I had ordered the basket from an online organizational store, and it does the job just fine with some zip ties. The dealer didn't have much I wanted in stock, but I left with the Piaggio alarm, a bungee net, and a monsterous lock. All the shiny chrome bits are on order, though.

And I must say, this GTV certainly is a looker. Already, I've had a guy at a stoplight 2 lanes over shout at me asking where I got it, and passed a little girl in a parking lot who pointed and yelled, "Daddy, daddy! Look at THAT!!" I used to love talking about whatever scoot I had previously, but now I see that Vespa owners have even more fun when it comes to that. I don't have to add the phrase, "Well, thanks for the compliments, but it isn't a Vespa, it's a _____." Even the paint on this scoot is interesting... it seems all the GTVs have a slight color-changing ability. The ivory can be anywhere from white to pale yellow depending on the light.

Here's Clarice, in all her glory! Haven't even taken the warning stickers off yet (I'll save that for this evening, as I need to run some pointless errands today). More pics on the way.

That really is a great looking bike! 8)
I saw a same one for real this summer at my local dealer and it just looked awesome!

Proves you do not need a Hummer kind of thingy to attract audience

Who's the hottie on the scooter?!? lol! Seriously, beautiful scoot! Love the seat, very classy. Did you name her Clarice after Silence of the Lambs?

Actually, I just thought of the name, thought it was nice, and that the only place I'd ever heard of it myself is the little doe from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. She was the only character with a clear head in that whole movie. Looked up the name, and it means "bright, clear, and famous." Seems good for a light colored Vespa.

Quite different, I know.

Very cool. I named my scoot after a lady that I work with that is a truly cool person. The type of person that inspires you to be nice:) Loved the name... it seemed to fit. Well enjoy your scoot!

Got an SX topcase yesterday, and it's terrific! I even noticed that the main canvas color of the case actually matches the stitching on the leather seat. Pretty nifty. I've got it sinched down onto the rear rack with 8 zip ties, and used 2 of the straps for the front part to tie it to the backrest. That case is so tightly secured I can actually move the bike around a little with it.

I feel it's a little more secure than the chrome basket, and I don't have to carry a tangle of bungees around for it. And while it obviously doesn't lock, it does offer that "out of sight, out of mind" feature for keeping things a little safer.

I also got a Stebel horn, but I think we're going to wait to install that over the weekend.

Looks absolutely fantastic!

I'll be interested to find out how well the color holds up in the sun, though. My black S/X case is already starting to fade after a few months of winter/spring sun (turning purplish).

I have some black leather dye that I'm seriously considering trying out on it.

Wow!! Gorgeous!

I have to admit, I didn't see the potential in that color when it came out
(OK... I thought it was ugly)

But now I get it--it's really beautiful!

Is it wrong to describe this as adorable? It really does look like Clarice from the Rudolph TV special!

You should seriously consider a red helmet with white polka dots to complete the look.

ROFL!!!
Well, they both have the same colors... a bit of black, and mostly brown and ivory (although the scoot is kind of opposite the reindeer in that respect). But that's a very amusing idea! I want to get a new helmet anyway, so maybe I'll choose a red one and put reflective white dots on it. What the hell. Razz emoticon I might have to trade my pink/white Corazzo for the stone/red one eventually, though, for the theme to really work. Laughing emoticon

Does this mean I need to convince my boyfriend to get a brown scoot with a tan seat, and paint the headlight rim red? ROFL emoticon
