Noticed today that the right side of the boot lid on my 400 is slightly higher than the left. loosening the four screws that hold the lid to the hinges only allowed me to shift the lid forward or backward, not up and down. is there a way to adjust the hinge itself?

When my 400 got smacked I was looking at replacing it since I really liked the storage. Every one of the 400's in stock had finish issues - the one I selected had a skewed trunk as you describe. The dealer said there was no way to adjust since it's basically attached to the frame. My guess is bad jigging when welding teh frame. That's when I decided to move up to the 500.
Now practically speaking I'm guessing you could look at slotting the hole where the screw goes through to make your own "adjustment". A Dremel took should be up to the task. |

That's the summary - you might find real instructions in the service manual, but you might not either, since for the average motorcycle technician that is a no-brainer. be very carefull when tightening that bolt for the handle bar. if it is over torqued you could crush the streering stem as it is hollow.
