An odd "wave"

Yeah, yeah, I know this one's been done to death, but I couldn't find any help with Google, so I thought I would ask the MV brain trust.

I gave "the wave" (two fingers out to the side) to a guy on a sport bike today. He gave me a wave that consisted of:

palm forward, middle three fingers folded over the palm, little finger and thumb extended up in a wide "V", like the "hook 'em horns" sign at the University of Texas.

What was he telling me?

Kind of like the hawaiian "hang loose" symbol?

That's my interpretation.

Hang loose = "take it easy".

Man!so flipping off is cool? Wow! What have I been missing, I've been riding vespas and lambrettas for past 25years, and I have not been cool all along? Is it cooler than wearing a parka on a hot summer rally?
