Its getting to the point where its time to my 250 away for the Winter. Any suggestions for keeping it in top notch shape?

I was planning to top off the tank and run some Stabil through. I don't have heat in the shed or electricity. Is it best to pull the battery now or can I keep it in and charge it in the warmer months?

Thanks for your advise and feel free to offer anything else I didn't think of.

Winter Storage Tips
I used to ride a BMW cruiser and was part of an excellent forum where one rider posted detailed advice on winter storage. Some of these things don't apply to a MP3, but most of the advise is wise for our machines as well:

Awww, don't put her away. Get some Heidenau K58 tires ,pull out that snowmobile suit I know you must have and take her out on the "warmer" days.

yes on the sta-bil
yes on the batt removal- because you need to keep it on a maintenace charge while not being used.
put scoot on center stand
place carpet or wood under the front wheels to help in preventing dry rot of the tires
ensure a good cleaning and wax prior to putting to bed for the winter
change the oil so the old oil with the contaminates in it don't sit in the cases all winter long and cause internal corrosion.
That's about all I can think of

Thanks for the advise guys. Once the new windshield is in maybe I'll keep it out a bit longer, but 23F is a bit too cold in the mornings for me.

Agree with all the above, but don't forget when it's on the centre-stand to disengage both the parking brake and the tilt-lock.

JimC- does leaving the tilt-lock on for long periods of time hurt it? I am thinking of 1-2 weeks at a time, without any use.

It shouldn't do - but you are leaving a hydraulic system under pressure for a long time, not recommended practice. If a union failed or there was a slight leak somewhere you'd find the bike on its side if it wasn't on the centre-stand, and in any case it would complain loudly (!) when you came to start it.
