I placed an order a few weeks ago for a pair of barbell bar ends and did receive an order confirmation.

After two weeks I sent an email to check on the status.
A few days later I left a message with an employee, and after not getting a call back, the next day I left a voicemail.

Friday I sent another email.

I have yet to receive the product or a single response and just wondered if my experience is atypical.

Nyle has said on here before that real life and real jobs get in the way of his side project: Jettin. Other than a delay or two I have never heard of anyone not getting their product.

Have you paid for the goods?

If you have, what they are doing is unethical, as well as sloppy.

You are not alone:

Jettin (are they legitimate or did I get ripped off) (Post 509339)

All the best

Jettin is a part time side project
I had problems with an order and it was corrected.

Some Jettin customers are not Californians who know Nyle from rides, nice guys and "part time project" may not ride well for those unfamiliar.

They do have excellent products that are not available elsewhere...I recommended their bar ends in another thread this morning. It will get corrected and it sounds like problems are not common.

I wouldn't hesitate to order from Jettin again.

Would a PM work when the advertised methods don't?
L from Jersey wrote:

If it isn't, that would be a highly inappropriate way to get a response.

Why don't email and telephone calls work?

Part-time and hobby businesses still have obligations...especially if they are publicly appealing for sales via a website or otherwise.

I have to agree that it would be nice to hear back from Jettin when there is a production backlog and the part is not in stock. I think people would be more understanding if there was at least a bigger effort put towards communication alone. The quality of their work is not suspect here, but the customer service side of things.

Hey Nyle,
Hire a cute little Beach Betty to show up each day and reply to your non-technical emails and shipping for $10 an hour. It would really change your customers perception of how you do things and take some load off your shoulders.

Jettin WILL follow through with your order. I have ordered from them several times with varying times for them to fulfill the order but they always deliver the goods. Good products too. It's simply a part-time thing for them so they get to it when they can.
Don't worry...................they will deliver the goods.

What you're missing here T, is the sense of community. Nyle has done some cool stuff and has friends and support of lots of the old timers here. We've watched his business grow. Sometimes it's not just about all business....sometimes relationships, loyalty, and community come into play.

Out of curiosity, did you buy something from Jettin?

I am not making excuses for anyone, but personally I have ordered stuff a number of times and had great service. Some of Nyle's stuff cannot be gotten anywhere but from him. Because of that, and because he is a small business, I would cut him lots of slack and not expect the same customer service as a big operation. It is almost like ordering very cool custom stuff you seldom see elsewhere and things like that can take time. His stuff, especially the heavy-weight bar ends and the visors, is worth the wait.

It is pretty poor if you operate a "cottage industry" (part time) business and your website doesn't reflect that. A simple note on the order form or even on the front page would do wonders for their reputation.

All they need to say is something like:

Jettin is a part time company we run from our home garage. We are avid scooterists and have developed several tools and other products specifically for Vespa scooters. As we have "real" jobs which help support our scooter habit, we are unable to respond to e:mail messages promptly and order processing can take upwards of 1 to 6 weeks. Our products are worth the wait and we will get the job done! Your patience is appreciated.

Knowing what louisq and others here know, I would not hesitate to order from them ... but I would like to know in advance what I am getting into before placing an order.

I have had nothinng but excellent experiences with Jettin (3). I will continue to patronize them, despite some moderate delays.

I think Americans in particular have gotten so used to 'Instant' everything, that we sometimes rate convenience higher than quality.

I ordered from Jettin earlier this summer. I received immediate replies to my emails and order. Nyle even threw in some stickers and patches. I received my dipsticks within a week. I'd order from them again.

I love my dipsticks. I promised Nyle I'd send pictures of them on my scoot. Sadly, I've failed on my end.

To answer the OPs question, Yes, they are on the level.

I believe you'll find Twenty positive post to one negative post about Jettin.

I think we have the fast food mentality when ordering on line, not to say your wrong to question but dont worry, nyle will make it all right in the end.

I have been meaning to pick up some heavy bar ends from Jettin and glad this reminder came up. If it takes some extra time, I'm cool with it. My scoot runs just fine without them so won't cause me any panic as I wait for them to show up.

Jettin heavy at 15oz each are just slightly less than the Vespa heavy bar ends supplied with a topcase. The vespa were 16 oz each for the heavy....just checked the weight...

You seem to have a real beef with Jettin, have you had a personal experience with them, as in 2 threads (I counted 6 posts) I have read now you are continually, and IMHO, unreasonably having digs at them.

A PM is simply another method of communication. I've ordered from them 3 times and been really happy with them, as they have supplied top quality products.

Anyone hear from Jettin recently?
My card was charged on 10.21 and I still have no product.

Voicemails and emails seem to end up in a blackhole.

The products might be uberkool, but the customer service is terrible.
I'm sure they are great guys, and I fully understand hobby-businesses, I have my own garage income from vintage BMW work over and above 65 hrs/week at my day job. Large or small, you still have to communicate with customers.

Well, I have to agree that over a month is a little much. I was thinking of ordering a few bits from him but I may wait to see what happens with your order. I'm sure he is just busy doing other stuff ... but I agree, they should at least communicate with you once they have taken your money.

I am still waiting to hear back from my dealer in St. Maarten regarding a few problems I've been having. It's been 4 days since I wrote to him and I have sent a copy each day to remind him. Calling him is always a pain because nobody other than the owner speaks English. Still haven't heard back from the dealer in Puerto Rico who sold me nearly $1,400.00 worth of crappy chome bits which don't fit (in late August) and did nothing to solve the problem. I wrote to Piaggio yesterday morning and am waiting for a reply from them as well.

Seems trying to get anything "Vespa" can be very difficult, time consuming and frustrating. Sigh.

Hopefully Nyle will respond to you soon.

I think something is wrong, Usually Nyle will jump in on these thread and answer right away. Hope he is ok...

Anyway, as with Jettin...I order many stuff from them. You can see the evidence on my LX150. The only thind I don't have is the Brembo brake because he doesn't have one that will fit the front LX150 wheel. Their stuff are great and no one else carry them, maybe execpt Scooter West.

Here's a story of my experience with them. I live about 4 miles from Jettin. The first time I visited his shop I was rather suprised as to what I saw. I thought I even went to the wrong place. The garage is in a small industrial area and there is nothing on the outside (or inside) that will tell you they make scooter stuff. I walk to the back because nobody answer the front door. I saw him doing some welding for an iron gate. I ask...ummm is this Jettin? He took off his welding mask and said, "sure is". He asked me to come in and I remember walking pass a dismantled GT200. He took me into his small office, and then I said to myself...aah so here are the scooter stuffs. The scooter stuffs took up about 1/10 of his office space, actually they were all on a little self. After we talked for awhile, I found out that the scooter parts business only bring in about 5% of his income. He told me it only buy him some beers. The majority of his business is custom welding service (like the iron gate). I bought over $200 worth of parts from him that day, and he gave me a huge discount. It was funny that he didn't even know how much he was selling the parts for. He had to get online to his website to see the price. Evidences that he doesn't sell very many of these Vespa only parts. I told him that I'm going to Vietnam and taking some of these stuff for our friend who had me order these parts because they can't get them there. They all love Jettin stuff, and I was even going to do a little article about Jettin on a Vietnamese scooter website and post pictures of Jettin and Nyle.

So in short, Nyle and Jettin are legitimate people and business. Like I said, scooter parts is probably only about 5% of their business. Nyle is probably just out at some work site doing some welding. They didn't seem too tech savvy either, as I noticed they still use dail-up AOL internet service at the office. Just give him some time and he'll get the stuff out to you, as I doubt they get regular UPS/ Fedex pickup at the office, and he's just finding time to go send the stuffs to you guys.
