Hi more info would be good if you need help from people here with your problems. What was wrong with your scoot that you needed to take it to a mechanic? What exactly is the model of your scoot? is it the front or the rear brake thats the problem, is it disk or drum? what happens when you kick the bike over, is there resistance in the kick start? have you checked the plug? the HT lead? have you turned the petrol tap / key fully on?

there are many possible reasons for your predicaments so more info would be great.

if your just looking for info on mechanics in your area, i'm affraid i'm not your man

cheers

The front brake handle is what's not grabbing. I see your in England. Nice spot if your used to Oregon Rain. Anyway, when I kick the lower unit it just slips right on past. I did replace the selector box because there were parts that ended up on the ground, so I knew it was broken. I thought the selector box cables were not tight enough. Since I took it to motion etc, I have been lead to believe that was not the issue. Now I have no idea. Any ideas from you.

Try adjusting the clutch cable. If it's too tight, the clutch will engage and the kickstart won't connect to the crank. If that doesn't work, you could have a broken kickstart gear or something more serious, which would require a rebuild.

To learn about your bike, check out scooterhelp.com or vespamaintenance.com. FYI, your scooter is called a Vespa P200E.

WRT your brake, make sure the cable is not broken.

Just so you know, the front brake on the P-series bike is not strong enough to lock the front wheel.
