Not quite a mod, but I added helmet hooks to my P200. Got the idea from the guys over at stellaspeed - it is very useful. I don't have to carry my helmet around anymore! Wahoo!

I did make a stupid mistake though - it was dark and I accidently dropped the washer from the bolt into that hole. Is that a problem? Is this going to mess anything up? I tried looking down the hole to locate the washer, but it was dark and I didn't have a flashlight.
Helmet hooks pre-installation
Helmet hooks installed. They fit great - the seat comes down and locks without a problem. I did accidently drop the washer down the hole/abyss..argggggg

I'm surprised your P didn't have one already. They were a standard part. I guess they must get lost during rebuilds, etc..... The "correct" helmet hooks on early P's like yours attaches to the two rear seat bolts. They changed the hook around to accommodate the panel lock leavers.

Don't worry about the washer. It might rattle around but there is nothing in that cavity that it will hurt. Try fishing it out with a magnet.

Huh. Is that what these are? I got these first, and thought they sent me the wrong piece since I had only seen the version that comes with the modern PX scooters.

I was under the impression that '79 P200s didn't have helmet hooks as a standard item. Atleast mine didn't!

Yep - those are the hooks for the earlier P's. They bolt on to the two bolts behind where you put the newer style hook. The rounded edge faces forward.

Maybe I'll put those on so I can carry 4 helmets at a time, LOL

I think I like the modern ones a bit better - they hang down more and give more room for the helmet strap to fit.

The stock P hooks allow you to lock your helmet to the bike when the seat is locked.

There are no "stock" hooks for a '79 P! Hence the reason why I had to add them!

All the of the early Vespa P range scooters had the hooks. Someone removed the one from yours at some point.
