Anyone seriously thinking about going for this? BTW megnez, how's your newly acquired shifty doing? A&A Its running great. I don't ride it nearly as much as I'd like. I'm still unsure about riding it in traffic and when its dark, so i don't ride it to work yet, which is what i bought it for . So basically I'll ride it a couple of short times on the weekends. Lame, I know. I really want to be hardcore about it, but I feel like I'm psyching myself out or something... anyone else ever feel like this? |

Try scootn' around your hood at dark just to feel comfortable. As far as work goes, try to find an alternate route to take where there might not be much traffic. You just have to ride and you will start to feel comfortable.
I understand the fear part, but sometimes it's just better to just say f*ck it and just ride. It's what I had to do when I first bought my Sprint and riding it in 50-60mph traffic. Just hold on, and haul ass ! If that doesn't work, then trying finding other people to ride with. Once you see other people riding it may make you feel a little bit more comfy on your scoot. Good luck~ |

I think if you hook up with some more experienced riders, you'll find yourself get comfortable a lot quicker.

Take your time. I wouldn't push anyone to do anything until they feel comfortable. Everytime you get on it will get easier. When I first started I ran to work before most people were awake and felt very comfortable even in the dark. It was around all the cars at 3 in the afternoon that I got nervous. If it is that much of a worry for you look into a motorcycle saftey course....might help some.

I first took my bike to work the day after i learned how to shift into second gear. I had nothing but stick shift cars till recently so i kinda knew what i was doing. Also riding road bikes and fixies probably helped eliminate any fear of being on the road with traffic. You just always gotta be aware of your surroundings because not everyone else is! It was scary for the first ten minutes or so then after that it was party time! It'll come to you when the time is right I guess. It took me a good six months or so to just feel comfortable on hills in my car when i was a kid. Just keep at it!

Back to e-bay! Bidding is up to $2425 with 31 hours to go. Anyone want to try to guess the winning bid?
I'll throw my hat in at $3874.99. Closest guess without your guessing going over gets a free bottle of Ouzo when you come to Paros. The trip, however, is on you! Al ⚠️ Last edited by Aviator47 on Sun, 23 Nov 2008 05:13:58 +0000; edited 1 time

Al No, seriously, I bet bidding can go way up in the last few hours (it's currently at $2750 with 8 hours to go). I say an outrageous $4100 just for fun. |

At least his "reserve" was in the realm of reason! Something under $2750.
