Modern Vespa

I posted this on another thread, but my husband would like a golf gps for Christmas. Are there any golfers out there who can recommend one?

Get the SkyCaddie SG3 or the new Garmin Golf Logix GPS-8. LINK I just got back from 5 blissful days playing golf with 20 of my friends and no one was using a GPS because most of the courses are offering GPS on the carts now depending on where he plays. The Skycaddie SG5 is the newest model and it has a color screen but will eat batteries quicker so save your money and get the Skycaddie SG3 and I am sure he will be very happy.

Skycaddie has always been the leader but Garmin is coming on hard to take this business away from them and I think either one would be great. They are both $299 and Rock Bottom Golf has good prices. Good luck.

Watch some of these video's to understand more of what these units do. LINK They tell you how far you have hit and how far to the tee so you know the right club to hit. They are waterproof and help speed up game play.

Thanks for the recommendations. I looked at some of them today but I hadn't considered the battery life. I wasn't sure what a golfer would want. Are they hard to read in sunlight?

Are you familiar with the Bushnell? It's about half the cost of the Sky Caddie. Bushnell makes good binoculars so maybe they make good GPS things?

Get the Sky Caddie 1st and a Garmin 2nd. The other brands are going to lack all of the courses. Check to make sure the one you want to buy has the courses he likes to play. That is the main reason for buying it so do your homework or you will buy him something that will sit in the closet. The color Garmin is the one I want but the black and white is still pretty easy to read in the direct sunlight. Below are the things I would do in order.

1) Find the 10 courses he likes to play or wants to play and make sure the one you want to buy has these courses. Search
