I bought a Widder heated vest, so I also bought a plug kit from Scooter Works to hook it into . It came with no instructions, and I have seen several instruction lists, some which look easier than others.

I have a 250gts, and need the proper instructions if anyone has them.

Also, I would like to know if I could rig it to my wifes LT150 somehow, maybe directly to the battery.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Have a look in the Project Reports section, there are quite a few instructions there...

Good luck with installing it, it really is not that hard!

Behind the left panel should be an alarm harness.

Get your multimeter and pick whether you want constant +12 or switched +12 (key on), both are available on that harness.
I cannot remember which color off the top of my head.
There are a couple of decent chassis grounds to pick from.

Or you could just run it to the + terminal on the battery (with fuse of course!)

Going direct to your battery, with a fuse at the battery end is your best bet. Also allows you to use a battery tender. It wasn't that difficult to fish a wire(with a cable shield from Radio Shack) from the battery up to the left knee panel. Good luck!

A battery tender can be connected through a power outlet, provided the outlet is fed upstream of the key switch. Se above thread.

Did you buy it from us or from Scooter Works? I didn't know they sold one. If it was from us, we have a very simple new wiring harness that connects to the running light in the horn cover. Just disconnect that wire and plug the power plug into those two clips you just separated.

If it's from someone else, you will have to sort out your own wiring via one of the methods mentioned above.

There are instructions on our website. There's a link on the power plug page of our website, which appears to be down at the moment. Take a look there when our site comes back up. Essentially, you will remove the left knee pad and horn cover. The power plug will replace the left knee pad, and the connectors will go into the electrical clips for the horn cover running light. More detailed instructions are on the site.

Getting my front rack off was harder than the install.

Motorsport's powerplug won't work on an '07 GTS. The harness is too small. Found that out the hard way! Check the white plug on the contraption and compare it to what you find behind the black panel. '07 comes with one large plug. The earlier GTS have a couple different ones back there. Good luck!

Whatever they sent me works perfectly.

I just went on a long ride, and it was like I was sitting in a hot tub.

It's only in the 50s here, but I actually had to turn the vest off at one point because I was too warm. The rest of me was in envy of the part covered by the vest.

GT200 Power Plug
Hi Max-

I just bought this item for my GT200 and it was delivered today.

There are two male spade connectors on the back of the socket. On the wiring harness there is a black and a white wire, each ending with female spade connectors. Since both spades are the same size, it is not obvious which wire clips onto which connector on the back of the socket. Does it matter which female connector (black vs. white) wire goes onto which male connector?

Thanks.

Ned

I called them with that question too. The spades are arranged like a letter "T". The red wire goes to the center spade. The ground goes to the outer spade, or the top of the "T".

Thanks for the quick reply.

I don't have a red wire, only white and black. Which is the ground?

The white wire is the power wire and connects to the center gold spade terminal. The black wire is the ground, and goes to the outer silver spade terminal. The female spade connector on the black wire sometimes needs to be pinched down with a pair of pliers because it's a little loose on the male spade terminal.

Hey!

I am very interested in that plug thingy. Got myself Vespa GTS 300. And I live in UK, London. Do you deliver to UK and is it very expensive?

Can you connect satnav to that plug?

I know it's probably too late, but an electric vest will draw at least 3.5 amps, probably more. I'm not convinced plugging into the alarm socket (or even the running light) is the best idea.

These are convenient power points for charging a phone or running a GPS or radar detector, but a steady 4 amp draw really should be wired directly to the battery and have its own dedicated fuse as close to the battery's terminal as possible.

Just my 2 cents.

It was a pain to snake wires through on my bike, but I'm very happy I did it.

I use my BMW electric vest with utter confidence knowing the wiring is a) sufficient and b) completely independent of the scooter's vital electrical/electronic functions.

It's entirely safe to draw up to 10 amps from the GTS alarm connector.

Are there any work arounds to getting it to work (short of plugging directly in to the battery) or plans to get it working with the Super's? I was eyeing adding the product for hooking up a GPS for a summer road trip.

If the Super has an alarm connector behind the left knee panel, similar to the GTS250, you could tap into that: Turn Signal Beeper and 12V Power Outlet on a GTS
