Yeah, it was cold this morning.

Broke out the ole North Face down snowboarding jacket and was nice and toasty (I'm contemplating an armored winter jacket - my Olympia AirGlide mesh, with liner, one got me through yesterday, but I think it's done for the year).

Everyone at work thought I was nuts for riding in.

I'll ride 20F and above as long as there is no moisture or expected moisture.

Today was great, cold as hell, but sunny and clear. Great day to ride.

now that i've installed heated grips and handlebar muffs, thus eliminating the possibility of 'vampire hand', the only thing that will keep me off the scooter is any kind of icy precipitation on the road or in the forecast.

my commute to work on public transport involves a 45-minute journey on an unheated overground train with freezing cold drafts gushing in the windows and doors. eurgh. i'd rather ride any day.

Today was the first time I rode the Vespa below freezing (27 deg F).

I was impressed that the ambient temp gauge flashed (presumably to alert me to freezing conditions) - neato!

Yeh I was showing the guys at work the thermometer on the BV with the flashing snowflake.

They said it ought to have a message that scrolls. "Take your truck to work, dumb ass !"

me wimp
Compared to some of the posts here I am a total wimp! Or I need better gear. Razz emoticon Was riding home last night in 50F weather and was really feeling it. Of course I was averaging 55mph, so the wind had something to do with it, but I swore I wouldn't be riding the scooter to work today. Now I have to ride to work or put my balls on the shelf next to my helmet!

Bought new Tucano Urbano parka today. It was like riding home wrapped in my duvet, just lovely

Riding all year round in London UK is fine as we rarely get snow or ice.

I had some fun, riding this afternoon. It was in the mid 20s. First ride to the dealer and back, I just had longjohns under my jeans. Knees got cold. Later, running around town, I put ski pants on. What a difference that made. A little while ago, I ran an errand in my drafty old Truckasaurus and was colder than I was riding my bike.

The first time I came to this town was early in February of '04. I had a meeting with a guy, and arrived at the designated place a few minutes before he did. He rumbled up on a Harley. Told me he rode all year around. That was one of the items of information that eventually drew me here permanently. This thread makes me very happy.

Didn't ride this morning. 7 degree windchill That's not a real problem but the city didn't do anything to the streets and with the snow we had last night they are really icy !

My truck was sliding through the intersections on the way to work. When I felt the ABS brakes grabbing I was glad I wasn't on the scooter.

This is January weather for us. Average temperature should be in the 50's. Global warming my ass..

It has been hanging around the 30's here in NY and I admit, I've been a wimp. Four wheels, with walls and heat.

I bought a lap apron, my ass still gets cold. I also have heated gloves but I need to install the power supply and I also want to buy a LARGE windshield.

Until then - just call me a wimp. Laughing emoticon

OK, I ended my wimpdom. Got out my mittens, scarf, lap apron, snowboarding pants, balacava and had a BRISK ride, today.

Not so bad, I'm still gettin' a freakin' windshield. A big freakin' one - that adornment on the LXV called a windshield is just that, an adornment. It's too small for anything, even to be a bug catcher. Got to be one stupid bug to hit that.

I am officially a wimp.
It was pretty chilly this morning and I was debating whether to take the train. I decided on the scoot but when I rode my scoot up the driveway I noticed I was on a large slab of black ice. I slowly rolled backwards and parked the scoot and walked off to the T

No riding for the past week. Snow, ice and below freezing. Tomorrow, up to +9°C and perhaps rain. That will be an incentive to take a spin.

Man... I feel sorry for all you folks in those colder climates. Brrr. My ride to work today was a balmy 56 degrees Fahrenheit. Granted we are gonna get a norther that drops the temps into the upper 30's, but it's only supposed to last last for a scant 48 hours. 8)

*feels lucky*

(Albeit, my June through August rides are another story entirely. Shoot some of those would make hot tamale feel cooler than an ice cream sandwich.)

2" of snow on the ground here and the city hasn't done anything to the roads.

Would love to get my new ride out but it's way too slick.

Only in the 20's but it's supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow but lots of rain.

Drat no riding this week.

Widder is a victim of their own high quality. My vest lasted through 20 winters. Now they are out of business. I bought an Aerostich vest. LOVE IT!

All year round
I avoid ice because it really screws with things like traction and verticality but I ride year round and I live in Minnesota. For fun I like to drive nails through my hand and listen to Britney Spears cd's for hours on end. Freezing temperatures makes you appreciate the bottle of bourbon you have at home.
