Weather is crappy in New England until March or April.

Otherwise GTS rules. No issues, no drama, no worries.

No major problems yet... 6,000 miles on it, all this year, so far - still riding (Philadelphia area).

I have been encountering a new problem (havent searched the boards yet).

I can let it sit outside at night when the temperature gets below 30 degrees, it starts right up in the morning - let it idle for 10 minutes to warm up. I ride it 4 miles to the gas station to get coffee. Come back out 5 minutes later, wont start - really have to crank it and crack the throttle open to get it to idle.

This situation is pretty consistent. Cold weather, ride it short distance/time, turn it off... goto restart... crank crank crank, no... crank crank crack throttle wide crank crank, start - have to force it to idle until it warms up.

Hmmm.

One problem that some riders have reported on is a bit of a "wobble" or head-shake between 35-40mph on deceleration. I'd say that it's something to be aware of. Read about it here:

I just have to ask why the paranoia? You've done 2 separate extended warranty threads and now this one. Are you having problems with yours or are you planning on buying one and are worried since your throwing down a big chunk of change? Scooters are not cheap to own. Parts are expensive and sometimes hard to get but in the end the fun you have with them far outweighs the money. Kinda like pets. Cute and cuddly but one trip to the vet is worse than having to pay for surgery on yourself You don't get either to really save money. Just enjoy it.

Eats rear tires like Rosie eats twinkies.

Bad fuel sending unit has me filling up too often, and needs fixing.

The digital clock is indecipherable, except for former SEAL Team Members, or possibly SAS.

Other than those, it's perfect.

Smooth, powerful, quiet, and absolutely no personality. Like riding on a finely crafted appliance. Several electrical melt downs and fires reported, recalls on exhaust system.

As someone who started riding motorcycles in the '60s and owned Triumph AND BSA models, and ran with more than a few HDs, I can state, unequivacably, that character is somewhat overrated.

The other stuff was mostly teething pains for a new model--once sorted, they're fine. New ones don't burn, have improved exhaust.

my solution to the GTS's lack of personality was to fit an aftermarket pipe (PM then later LV to avoid bleeding ears). makes the bike much more fun.

Some people (including me) had minor trouble with the spark plug wire working loose and causing a stall. My dealer fixed me up and said "it won't come loose again."

GTS250, 2years in Jan 09, 34000km (21 126miles) :

One time the exhaust gasket.
A battery unserviceable= I had engine stopping on the highway; due to a element of the battery with low level of acid. 12V at the pods, but less then 2V in this element. A new battery and goooooooooooooo....
A temporary loss of top end speed when I change of exhaust. The time for the ECU to learn the new parameters. (not a problem)

Who told that Italian products are worse than the Japanese?????

I am really impressed with how well my GTS 250 performs and how well it is built. My only problem is keeping it "restrained", that baby will really haul and it is too easy to get carried away.

To be honest, I do have a minor 'problem' with my GTS...

I mean this rather seriously, actually I am suffering some kind of 'inferiorities feeling' to other motorized traffic.

For some reason I just can't stand being overtaken by cagers....like I hear them say: "Let me overtake that stupid scooter moped...right now!"

Sometimes I even forget to 'ride my own ride' and try to prove it is not 'just a little scooter' Razz emoticon
(Please note that I tend to respect speed limits, but many/most cagers apperantly euh less...)

GTS 250 ie no problems at all
Very dependable, ride 14 miles to work daily. I get about 65mpg + -
But I have the large windscreen in front. I find it is addicting.

It adds fun to life too.

My only problem so far is that I don't want to get off it.

What to watch for
Watch out for high wind. When the wind is behind you is fun to ride, but when you are facing the wind is best to slow down and watch out for the burst of cross wind.

I just set mine to read "normal" time in the PM, and the military time in the AM. It's ass-backwards according to Piaggio, but it works for me.

It's just second nature to me. I like it. I wish I had all the clocks in my house set to 24 hr time. I work third shift and have my room windows tinted with big curtains over them. It's sometimes hard to tell if it's AM or PM.

I've done the 3rd shift too...I used to hang blankets on the windows, and I never ceased to get pissed that "normal" people couldn't understand my schedule.
