1986 Wolfsburg Edition Camper Vanagon (like the full camper but rear facing jumpseat instead of stove)
That was called the "Weekender" - bed, pop-top, jump seats, no kitchen.
The models with the kitchen and cabinets & pop-top was a "Full Camper"
Full-width bed, jump seats, fold up table and NO pop-top was an "Multi-Van" or MV
Yes thanks. I had forgotten the name, so I didn't know how else to describe it. We like it better than the full camper because we can use it to haul stuff like plywood, etc...we can even get a Honda Metropolitan back there.. When you don't have the stove/sink whatever there's lot's more room. We used to stay at campsites and use a Primus stove.
But our best memories were the 71 van we drove all over. One of the best times of our lives.
Never had (or even driven) a beetle, but I've had a couple of early 80s Rabbits, a 1988 Brazilian Gol GTS, and I currently drive a '95 Golf, that I've had since new.
