Text messaging and scooting dont mix........

The best way to ride and communicate is using an headset system.
My Wife and me we are using such a system from cardo Scala Rider Q2 with Bluetooth.
We can talk to each other,accept cellular calls,listen to radio,playing mp3 or cd and we can connect an pmr et etc etc.....

Sorry for the family, but no helmut, using a cell phone (texting no less), this is sad, but hardly unpredictable.

Just glad it was only the scooterist and there were not additional fatalities/injuries.

What is so difficult in pulling over and stopping to use a cellular???

I can actually slip my whole phone in on the side of my half lid, so it'skind of like a ghetto hands-free kit. It gets funny looks when I pull over to slip the phone in, but it actually works pretty well.

Yeah, and I think the newscaster also mentioned something about alcohol and speeding...

Does anyone else think it's funny (odd) that Sprint Cellular sponsors the clip? It's sad when people do insane things thinking nothing bad will happen to them. Crazy!

Speaking as someone who has been rear-ended TWICE (in a cage) by fools talking on cellphones, I think I'm qualified to comment on the insanity and stupidity of any kind of electronic communication distraction (hands-free or otherwise) while riding a scooter. Staying alive on a scooter or bike requires 100% concentration and focus.

In an irony similar to the sponsorship of that clip... one of my punts by cellphone-absorbed drivers occurred while I was driving a rental car in Dallas on a business trip in my former career as an FCC official. I was there to meet with members of the Cellular Telephone Industry Association! Boy, did I give them an earful the next day!
