Created article Modern Vespa Paint Codes

Jess, I don't know how to format for columns. If you go into edit mode, you can see that the info is supposed to be in four columns to make sense. Any help would be appreciated.

GT60 color / Gt 60 colour
GT60 color codes - There's going to be some confusion over the color of the GT60.

Some of the literature calls the color gray 725 or grey 725.

I have a photo of the sticker from behind the pet carrier on a GT60 that clearly shows Grigio 60 780/A. Unfortunately this is a GTV color, Avio gray or Aviator gray. I suspect the wrong sticker was slapped on that GT60. The Gt60 is not this colour.

Mine had no sticker at all.

The matching topcase states that the color is 786/A. (taken from eBay).
The MV wiki says that vintage gray is a color used ".. .for models shipped to the U.S. since their re-entry to the market in 2001" and that the code is 786/A , accessory code 32 ER.(I guess that's the part number for touch-up paint). It doesn't specifically say that this color is the GT60 color, though.

MV member SDG offered to send touch-up paint as a Christmas gift to owners of GT60s, but was unable to deliver because (quote) "We actually have not been able to make it yet. Our painter has claimed some change in his distrubritor, "water based" bla bla (I don't know what it all means) but anyway we just simply haven't got any made yet. " (end quote)
This tells me there may be problems for other people in the future.

I'm putting this all down in one spot so that when somebody does a search they'll have these pieces of the puzzle.

Another note: I used Krylon Battleship gray on a guard for a tableasaw motor and found the colour virtually the same as my GT60, but without actually applying it as touchup paint I can't say that it's an exact match. I don't know if their color varies from batch to batch, as well.

Still another note: No idea if there's a clear coat on top of the GT60 paint , either.

cheers

All of those are on the list- Modern Vespa Paint Codes

FYI- When you are in the forum there is a link at the top and bottom of the page that points to the wiki article.

I looked at the list. None of those names are on the list. The paint codes might be but the names of those codes seem to be different depending on model. I guess if I rode an MP3 and wanted paint to match my Light grey metallic color I would assume that there is no paint code for it in the list.

711/B is Cortina Gray, 713B is Orione Gray, and 830/A is listed as Rosso. The names don't matter as much as the codes. The exact name and code should be listed on a sticker under the seat. The manuals might not have the specific color name, but they do have the codes.

Listing what is in the manuals is problematic because it is often not very specific. For example, the Sprint manuals lists white and blue. The Primavera also has blue, midnight blue, and white listed. The three blues are different, but white is the same. Just listing "blue" for more than one color would be a mess. The list does allow someone to look up their specific color since manuals do have the code listed.

There are about a dozen different grey and silver colors listed. Trying to figure out which one is on your scooter by matching a shade to a name borders on impossible.

Here's one that isn't on the list: the matte green for a 2018-19 GTS300 Sei Giorni is "Verde," 344/A.

(I got the touch-up kit from ScratchesHappen and was really happy with the color match.)
