Here is a show case of my vintage motorscooter, my 150cc Sprint Veloce from 1978.

These are the 'old' pictures before I purchased it:

(These pictures are from my other post were I was still in decision phase)

But there is no stopping for a 100% original Italian vintage Vespa 8)
And so on the start of December the rebuilding started.

Here are the first pics of the dismanteling:

Don't mind the GS 150 in the back!

This Super light is so much nicer.

Getting more naked...

Lovely engine

8)

Although she is 30 years old, there are just 3500 km. on the clock. So mostly minor and cosmetic things:

1 ) Exhaust black painting
2 ) General cleanup engine and frame
3 ) Chrome rim headlight replacement (has minor damage)
4 ) Backlight to nicer Super version (thus not original for Veloce... )
5 ) New worn feetrubber
6 ) 'Blue' Dutch oldtimer license plate
7 ) Fix rubbers middle stand
8 ) Cleanup logo's and consider placing script versions
9 ) Redo the inner saddle foam
10 ) replace rear break rubber
11 ) coating the wheels and rims
12 ) fix irregularities on the blue frame parts
13 ) paint suspension parts
14 ) mount a mirror
15 ) coat flywheel cover
16 ) fix keys from steer/trunk (original keys)
17 ) tuning the engine
18 ) consider spare wheel: behind legshield or luggage rack mounting
19 ) consider single seat saddle + rack instead of buddy seat
20 ) unforseen...

Actually the whole bike is one big original "feast".
(Including the ugly crash bars/irons with its bolts drilled into the floor, for some reason every Dutch Vespa had to have these in the seventies )

So the cylinder is the original 3 port 150cc.

The tuning part is merely like re-adjusting the clutch/gear cables, checking the ignition and its contacts, maybe a carb checkup as the gastank was empty and she does seems to leak a bit. Also a bit bad on running idle.
No big worries on this on, that is why I searched and was wlling to pay the price for it

I did had Rover Eric's Viet warning in the back of my mind:

2) It's a Sprint / Super / VBB. You've gotta be careful with these models - they are the ones that were imported on a grand scale to Southeast asia, so they are the models that are most commonly viet death traps painted up all pretty and sold to us yanks.

Can't wait for the final restoration

For backlight, you should keep the original one, so she will stay original.

Does her paint is still original? if still original, maybe you should keep it that way.

Hey Januar, "restauration" is a big word for such a mint condition Veloce. It is more a rebuilding, like a finishing touch on minor things.

The original backlight will stay...but for now in a cardboard box. I know it is a big pro to have the scoot as original as possible, but I just dislike the the backlight too much
As the screw holes are an exact match with the Super version, there is an easy (temporarily) swap.

The color is original and will stay for sure, I had the color pigment scanned so new paint can be made. This will be used for the minor scratches you can expect on a 30 year old 8)
And for the rest...I think she will be as naked as possible...no crashbars - no luggage rack - no spare wheel....just a scoot!

Yupe my mistake then, the condition is very mint

Maybe the previous owner must be seldom riding her, just store in the garage.

May I know how much do you pay for her? cause in my country price of sprint v in mint condition is very high.

Let me say "expensive", about the price of a new LX50

I don't know about Indonesia, but scooters have been rare in the Netherlands. So there are not so many motorscooters around, not to mention a vintage Vespa with original Dutch license plate!

As I didn't want to do a full restauration AND I wanted a good riding scoot, this Veloce was a good deal for me, despite the costs.
(For the price of a fully restored GS150 like on the pics above, you can easily buy a small new car)

So I assume everywhere is the same for a vintage vespa, the price is high, same here in Indonesia

In Indonesia, scooter is popular, everyone in their garage must be have a scooter, but I'm talking modern scooter, not a vintage one. Although the population of vintage vespa still big, not so many riding it everyday, just in the weekends.

But me, I'm riding it everyday to the office

cheers

Today I kinda 'ended' the dismanteling phase!
I have started the rebuilding and made some good progress.

When she is finished, likely early February, I hope the weather will be dry enough for some good test rides.

- Shiny coated rims and brakehouses
- Tipping spots with recreated blu paint
- repaint back sping and damper
- repaint front fork, spring and damper

That will make a big difference 8)

Still in pieces, but repainted exhaust is looking good!

Hopefully the rope doesn't break...

Bene Blu finally at home!
This weekend I did the last rebuilding on my 150 Sprint Veloce.
Some spots on the frame original paintwork have been fixes /repainted. An excelent job by the paintstore that remade the blue color...exact match!

Also Rims have been recoated, got new Michelin tyres too. So with some minor fixes she's almost 100% again.

30 years old, fully original on all matters...and looking GOOD!

Very well done! Looks like it just rolled off the factory floor!

Thanks Marc, also it easily fits in our VW Caddy.
This opens the possibility to take her with me to my family in-law visits in Cadzand and do the 'Krekenroute'

Or maybe the best choice to do the Donkey Skök ride-out....if our UK friends respect that speed limits are in KMH and not MPH

Except for the taillight, she is fully original. I just didn't like the plastic Veloce/Rally taillight, so I used a Super version...
It is 'just' two screws so easily refitted

I am also working on a less obscure retro license plate. For pre 1979 vehicles it is allowed to use smaller retro darkblue plates with white digits in my country.

I wanted an original 'naked' bike this time. The racks and pieces are stored, but if you are interested...but feel free to pick them up from Indonesia

This rack with spare tyre is an additional accessoir:

It does make the Vespa look more like a Lambratta, I know.
However, these were originally in the accessory program at the end seventies overhere.

On the picture is is just loosly mounted for the impression, but technically it fits OK
