Right, I have followed in the footsteps of some of the other 3 wheeler owners and fitted at Stebel Nautilus horn, this is a compact air horn giving 139db.

First off I had to find somewhere to mount it. At first it appars there is plenty of room under the front, but when you take into account the amount of space that is taken up when you lean it over you become a bit more limited. I settled for behind the RH headlight, as far up as possible.

Then how to mount it? I used a 1 3/8" exhaust clamp to fassten it to the 1" frame work (I wrapped some rubber strip around the frame to prevent any damage.)

Here is a couple of shots of the mount.

With the horn attached.

It is actually mounted much higher up, it just pokes out from the bottom of the panel seen above.

All wired in correctly using inline fuse holder with 20 amp fuse and a relay. Basicly remove the connections from the original horn and connect these to the relay. Run a fused wire from the battery to the relay, then from relay to the horn, finally connect an earth wire from the horn to the chassis.

Here is the relay, easy to get to if ever needed.

Job done.

The first video is the original horn.

The second is the Nautilus.

Both recorded at the same volume, just that today is a lot windier, so more background noise.

How did you mount the horn to the muffler bracket? I can't figure that out from the photos. Where did you find 1 3/8" muffler bracket? The car parts stores I've tried don't seem to have anything near that small.

Thanks,
Bill

I think he just used an exhaust clamp to attach the horn to the front frame. He didn't actually attach the horn to the muffler bracket.

I guess I really meant to say: how did he attach the horn to the exhaust clamp.

Given the amount of moisture evident both inside and outside the scooter panels - and even on your new horn - I would like to suggest you get dielectric grease on the new relay terminals, as well as your other electrical connections - if you haven't already.

Good job on getting a Nautilus installed. They work great.

I used a piece of flat bar (from an old horn mount lieing about the garage) fastened to the exhaust clamp. Then through the end hole in that the Stebel was mounted as per the instructions, the black plastic spacer you can see in the picture is an anti-vibration block, I think.
