When I shut the bike down it makes a sound similar to pressure escaping. Seems to be every few seconds. I pulled the pet carrier and its coming from the engine compartment. I smell fuel. At first I thought it was a fuel pump that would not stop cycling but maybe its a pressure relief from the fuel system and doing what it should. Not sure I ever noticed this before but maybe I wasn't paying attention. Its been hot, in the 90's this weekend. Is this normal?

Add some of this to your tank and it will stop.

Those posts are funny. I thought it was normal but wasn't sure. Thanks!

JLB, I should take the beano but my wife would wonder what happened to me if I stopped making noise.

I nominate this topic for a wiki article. Not just a pointer to other threads, but a wiki article explaining the phenomenon, with information culled from the various threads on the topic.

Sort of done, work in progress.

FAQ: Why does my GTS groan/moan/moo or fart when off?

I'm just thinking that the Scooter related FAQ looks a bit messy and needs to be further subdivided. Let me think about that one. Suggestions welcome.

Possible subdivisions:

Noises
Fuelling
Motor
Brakes
Technical

On second thoughts the FAQ page is fine, but I've just altered the order of things and put in a few line breaks to make it a bit easier to read.

Many thanks to all of you who will contribute to the wiki or FAQ. Great idea. When searching for a problem that makes a noise but no other symptoms, the keywords for the search are critical. It looks like you have them covered, mine does sound somewhat like a "moo" as well as a fart. I almost did a search on "fart" but was afraid what it might turn up. Once again, MV to the quick rescue.

I nominate Kate (being the Wiki Moderator on the scene) to be the arbiter of done-ness for this wiki article.
