I have a 2007 Vespa 250 GTS ie
And I have installed a tall windshield and a top case, now I have some wobble, at 30-35 mph slowing down it shows up the most and I have been told that I need to add bar weights, but which one since they are sold in two sizes 14 ounces and 17.5 ounces, I am 6'2 tall and weight 230 pounds, I don't want to order the wrong weight.

Did you get the topcase from a dealer? The heavier bar weights should have been included in the package (they come with the topcase)

It sounds like you're looking at HVMP bar ends.

http://www.hvmp.com/vespa.htm

I haven't heard anybody complain about getting weights that are too heavy. Why not just get the larger ones to be sure that they're adequate ? It would be a shame to buy ones that don't quite do the job.

I put the larger ones on when somebody was selling a used set. Starreem said that they were the best mod she had done. I hadn't had a wobble before installing them, but did it as a preemptive strike in case changing tires in the future introduced changes.

The only problem that I could imagine with having them too large would be a tiny bit of extra width when lane-splitting, but if you're cutting things that fine you're probably asking for trouble anyways.

Hope this helps. cheers.

Jettin sells 15 ounce, chrome bar-ends. I have a pair on a GTS. They look great and have the grooves already cut in case you ever need to tie the front end of your scooter down to transport it.

Without having taken out my tape measure, I'd bet the stock mirrors are more outboard than the bar ends. My vote is to go for the heavier ones.

I'm either going that way myself, or the Jettin ends with the tie-down grooves. Haven't decided yet.

Jettin bolts have rusted heavily, much more than the oem did.
I still prefer then since they make tie down on my trailer a cinch. Looking for replacements from Fastenal in stainless, will report what I find.

If I go with Jettin, before I install them, I'll stop by a chandlery to pick up some stainless bolts.

I don't think grade 8 bolts come in stainless.

Hutch,

They should have come with your top case if it's a Vespa top case. Call your dealer.

Bar end weights

I recommend you order the heaviest ones...

The HEAVIEST ones I have been able to find are HVMP 17.5 Ounces Vespa Bar ends. Website: http://www.hvmp.com/vespa.htm
Mine came in 3 business days. I am very happy with them. Just had them powder coated black to match my Flat Black GTS.

I wish some-one would do heavier bar-ends that don't stick out further than the stock ones - maybe depleted uranium ??

Get the 17.5's!
I also have a gray GTV250 with a windshield and a (Givi) top case, and purchased the HVMP bar ends. I contacted HVMP directly to get their recommendation, and they steered me to the 17.5 oz ends (they said the lighter ones were only slightly heavier than the stock ends). I bought the 17.5 oz ends and had them installed. They're perfect. No more wobble. Yes, they are a bit longer than the stock ends, but when installed they look great! (Note, if you bought a Vespa case, it should have come with heavy bar ends.) So, my recommendation is to with the HVMPs.

Sometimes the bad uniformity of front tire would also cause the steering to vibrate.

I installed the jettin heavies and the length is a non-issue for me. Tie down convenience however, awesome. Didn't have a wobble before and don't have one now.

The mirrors are cool. Are those something available in Austrailia?
