Question is - will a GTS rear rack fit the GT 200 after you remove the stock rear rack. Liking the side bars for my passenger. Any experienced members out there?

Yes. Absolutely. You'll need the rack and the black plastic base. The GTS seat is optional, you could just as easily keep the GT seat.

Pardon me for being dense but is the black plastic base to provide coverage for the parts that are exposed when the GT rack is removed. Also - can you get that as a part from a dealer as a replacement part and if so what is it called. Plastic Base thingy?

Yep. It's to cover the innards. I would imagine a dealer should be able to order it, but I don't have a part number.

GTS Rack doesn't line up with GT holes
I finally ordered the Cuppini GTS rack & rear tank cover to do the rack conversion on my GT. The problem is the rack doesn't line up with the rear holes and the brack doesn't look like the correct angle. Take a look:

What's up with this? (And yeah, I know the marks from the old rack don't look so good, but that's a whole other problem.) Has anyone tried this specific rack?

I'll also post the un-notched seat to show the gap you get before the seat is cut down to go over the side bars.

Guys, guys, you dont have to do all of this! Just switch the name plates on your 200 with a 250 name plate and everything will work. Or you can saw the back half off of a 250 and then.............

Is that bugger just bent out of shape from shipping or rough handling in the warehouse?

I'm happy to report that the replacement Cuppini rack from Scooter Parts finally worked. The first one was bent at the rear bracket. I cut the seat notch with a dremel disk, then smoothed it to look like the original molding with the sander attachment.

Here's the links. I hard trouble finding that tank cover part initially:

Here's how it came out:
