I have never been to a scooter rally but after going to the IOW with family last half term I was thinking that it may be quite cool to go to the IOW. I now have a 50% discount with the ferries (due to a cock-up) so might not be too expensive. Anyone going? anyone want to go? is it too late for 2009?

I have been for probably the last 12 years on the bounce and in the eighties, and to be honest i have had enough of it, same old stuff, sick of the music etc.

Dont get me wrong, there are some top people good times, but for us lot it hasnt been about the scooters for years - we just went as a group of blurkes to have laugh, it could be anywhere. If you do a ride around the island its nice, and there are some cool pubs 8)

I personally am sick of all the fancy dress and moddy/skin nonsense!

But you may have a really good time, especially if you like comedy and the obligatory boring music!!

to be fair, I am not really one for rallys or clubs etc. But I want to go away for a few days with the scoot, just to get away from work etc. And I thought since I have these 50% discount ferry tickets it may be an idea. Dont really want to go on my own though, seeing as I have never done something like this before.

Maybe consider going over the channel and cruise the Normandy coast

If I lived in England, I would want to scooter tour Ireland, Scotland, and the southwest of Enland, as well as Wales

good one
Cor blimey gov'nor your happy lot!!!

Marc,
I think if you've got half price tickets to the IOW then yes you should get over there for a weekend or so. You've just been so you know the score about what to do & where to go.
I would love to have gone but I'm in North London and ride a ET4 125cc. I only get 58 mph at a push. So the ride around the IOW would be great, but the ride down to southampton would be a nightmare (or a trip in it's self.)
I wish you & others a great trip... And if you do go I reckon a photo of the bikes on top of the cliff with the Needles in the background would look so cool.
Good luck 8)

whats your problem, we used to ride our fifties to the IOW from Bristol when we were kids, and 125's regularly make alot longer trips than 100odd miles

When I was a boy there wasn't many cars that could hit let alone average 80/90 mph on the motorway. I drove all around the UK & Europe in my series I Land Rover and that did 45/50 mph flat out too. Love'd the trips but then I had no rush to get anywhere and journey was the journey. Like I said "I" would make a trip out of the run down south and around. That's me & mine these days.

Marc, again I hope you find some bod's to travel with.

Pop on over fella, loads to see and do. Would seem silly to waste the tickets after all.
And the ride down to the Island can be a great one if you plan it right.
I would love to scoot around the New forest.

+1. You run out of road pretty quickly on the IOW - you can do all the interesting bits in a day, really - but it's lovely countryside and fun to potter around. Take your time and have a cream tea or two!

I might be up for a trip depending on which weekend it was. Pop on the DKSC thread and ask there too!
