Hey all.

I just purchased a 79 p200e, my first scooter, after a carb rebuild, new inner cables, a fresh plug and wiring repairs, the scooter runs great! I am now turning my attention to some cosmetic work, the side covers, horn cast and front fender were painted with what seems to be latex paint. After stripping off the coating of latex, I discovered that the front fender is full of bondo. I plan to replace it.

I dislike the stock fender design, reminds me of the character Dark Helmet from Spaceballs, anyhow is the a more svelte design fender that will fit? I under stand that some fabrication may be required, any ideas or better yet, pictures?

Thanks
Mike Sam

Try a hugger (look left) they are about the smallest muddy you can get. Or then again what about a T5 shorty. Go to SIP they have both the above.

Or if you like you could just cut a couple of inch off yours all the way round and then stick pike nuts in the crest holes.

Many times, while rebuilding my P, I have put my front fender on my head and said aloud "I'm surrounded by assholes!" The other guys in the shop think that's funny.

Dark Helmet indeed.

I vote that you just rock the P fender. Be proud of its ugliness.

With the big fender crest I just put on mine, my girlfriend said it looks like it has a mohawk... she's kind of right!

I beleive the term skelly refers to a Lambretta sans body parts and with a few other mods the suedeheads liked.

Just figure out a way to lower it so it actually covers the wheel.

hey t5,

that fender was suprisingly stiff and functional and cool.

i rocked that thing on the freeway at speeds of 80 and no problem.

if i do another bike i will be doing a variation of that one again. Nerd emoticon

vlb,it had to go.

we were short on mortgage and at that price i knew it would sell.

i still get a couple people that tell me i could have gotten alot more, but that means possibly sitting on it.

we were 10 days late into a 15 day grace on mortgage.

whats done is done.

hey hey now. I personally think they have a solid look (in both senses of the word). Might not be a GS, but they're still more "classic" looking than a number of some other vespas, including the moderns. Blocky, yes, but not UGLY

Speaking of fenders, will Stella/PX150 fenders fit an '80 P200E? If not, what is different about them?

Thanks in advance.
