This is my 5000th post on MV, the first non-moderator ever to hit that level. Yes, I know, it just shows how little life I have but I'd like to take this opportunity to recognize the following:

Thanks to all the moderators who have kept this place in line, often against the whiny childishness of the rest of us.

Thanks to all the new members that keep the 'sport' of scootering new to the rest of us.

Thanks to all the old experienced riders who share their wisdom and wrenching skills that make us all better riders.

Salutes to:

I've only met a half dozen or so MVers but they were all terrific people. We've got people on here from every corner of the world (I don't think we've got an antarctican!). It's amazing that we are all drawn together over our appreciation for a silly form of transportation. There must be SOMETHING about these scooters.

This place has spawned scores of rallies all over the world, some small, some not so small.
This forum is responsible for hundreds of new drinking buddies and thousands of beer embibements.
People here have flown around the world to do an MV Mediterranean scooter rally! How stinking cool is that!
I've learned enough to keep my rubber down and shiny side up and moving for 4 years now.
People have rallied around downed riders, raised money for colleagues, humbled the arrogant, supported the fallen and advised the cautious. I've truly appreciated what I've gotten here. A lot of people have saved a lot of time and money learning stuff here. We've also spent a LOT of extra money because of the advice we've gotten here!

Certainly, a tremendous shout out to Jess who started a putzy little scooter site because he was sick of the BS in the rest of the on line scooter community, dedicating it to celebrating the joy of scooting whatever you want without judgment or ridicule... (almost). Jess, you should be proud of what you have here. ...and thanks for not banning me (yet).

To our fallen colleagues, Tippytop, Old Hwy 7, any others I don't know about. May they be leaning through the twisties in an even better place.

Finally, to Milena, my GT, who makes me look forward to going to work every day, Thank you.

Congrats, Larry! Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, and I'm proud to recognize you, in particular, as the first to make it to this milestone.

Congrats! And didn't you come up with Veni, Vidi, Posti for the post rank? How fitting.

Way to go, lomunchi. I've loved the avatar changes and the overall good humor. Congrats on hitting (hmmm...what to call it. If we were bicyclists, it would be something along the lines of a half-mega-century.)

Gosh, I remember clear back to when you only had a couple of thousand or so posts. 8)

an average of 4.145 per day.... if you figure your sick days and hollidays and days that you walked away in disgust and didn't come back for a few, it pushes it to 4.7 per day.

Congrats on your milestone. I noticed a few days ago that you were at 4995. I started to engage your country ass in a good ole fashioned pissing match. Just to get MY name in the record books. Kind of like the guy that served up that easy home run to Sosa or McGuire. But I decided to let it happen naturally. No STERIODS here.

Your post captures, and I think I can speak for the Academy, how we feel about the MV site. Lots of amazing folks, diverse interests and addresses, with a common fascination with scooters. Helpful, playful, sometimes just plain full...we do have a good time.

5000 posts means you're one of the big reasons this place works so well.

Great post Larry! I agree with all the accolades as well. What a great forum and what nice people (for the most part) we have on this forum. I always look forward to reading your posts ... and this one (in particular) is the epitome of "why". Looking forward to the next 5000!
