Getting togeter in Chattanooga was the highlight of myMP3 experience in the last year. It would be great to do something every month or two. Different locations and of course a different mix of who can make it each time. One more before our school teachers go back to work might be good and in Georgia that is early August.

If we do another before fall I vote for staying close to the mountains as the elevation helps drop temperatures and of course the roads are fun.

Some ideas to get the thinking started:
1. Camping at Two Wheels Only in Suches, GA. High elevation and impossible to even get to without mountain twisties. They serve good meals and have a few rooms for those not wanting to camp. http://twowheelsonly.com/
2. Another trip to Dragon area. Lots of accomodations around Robbinsville, NC. Lots more good roads in addition to Dragon and Cherohola.
3. Highland, NC the highest city east of the Rockies.
4. Someone sugested Greenville / Spartanburg area.

Speak up with ideas, best time and ability to participate.

Well, I'll likely have some time available around the 19th of Aug., prolly the week before or the week after.

I'm up for anything around Tenn, Ga, the Carolinas or such.

Just my two cents worth, but I made an interesting discovery about myself last year. I was a big camper as a kid..tents, fishing, hiking, etc. Last year I went camping in the Southwest in Navajo nation, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona and all over for 18 days straight. Camped out on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon too. I discovered I'm not a camper anymore. Loved the scenery, hated sleeping on the ground every night. I'll be staying at the hotels with my baby parked outside wherever we go .

I'd be up for it.

Probably can't this summer. I will be traveling a lot in August back and forth to Maine. But would love to do a fall trip up to y'all's neck of the woods. When do you start seeing color in the leaves up there?

Seriously, I think you'll prolly start seeing some color change around September/early October

Also close to Hiawasee, with grocery stores, and Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia.You can see Brasstown Bald from the campgrounds. I was there 2 years ago, when the Southeast Cushman Club happened to be staying there too. Must have been 50 vintage Cushman's. Very cool.

just looked at the Bald mountain site, it looks great. They have cabins to stay in, just have to provide your own sheets and blankets. That would be no problem as the big brown truck delivers boxes every day to places and they pick up also could even ship an air mattress and stay in the more primative ones as well.

Yeah looks pretty nice. Would be a 497 mi 8 hours 52 mins ride for me from welaka, fl...doable once i get a custom seat or one of the cushion things that Fuzzy was talking about. Sounds like a good fall trip.

Speaking of lazy, I think I may just leave work right now to do some "field research" on possible rides.

Yeah I definitely will once I save up my pennies.

Is there still interest in a get together at Bald Mountain or elsewhere on a weekend in September?

I may go up to Two Wheels only Labor Day weekend if anyone is interested.

Probably can't over Labor Day (maybe, but I don't think so). Any other weekends? Bald Mountain looks good, or someplace else - I'm really pretty laid back. There aren't many places I don't like to go.

September is tough for me. I'll be in Florida Labor day weekend and the weekend after, then I may be in Atlanta the following weekend for the Resurgence Scooter Rally.

Then October - LEAVES in TN mountains! Looking for some great rides then.

For me it will have to be spring, as my right shoulder is being rebuilt Sept 17.

Shoot me a notice if you decide to. I'm working Saturday, but I might be able to go Sunday and Monday(no school on acct of the holiday). This assuming that I'm not staring at a half-disassembled bike and scratching my noggin(a distinct possibility).

Check out the foliagenetwork.com - they have historical records. My best guess for the Cherohala Skyway is mid to end of October. It starts high and ends low so you can actually view best color over two weeks - just at different altitudes. My favorite is down low - around Indian Boundary or 3,500 ft. That would be towards teh end. Its a shame but it is variable - try to guesstimate from the foliage network historical data.

I am planing a trip to the Dragon around mid Oct. My brother and I are going to load up my MP3 500 and he is taking his LX150, my other brother might be coming with his Ducati.

The Hill on Wheels rally in Chattanooga is October 2-4. Not sure if a Deals Gap ride is planned, but I would think so.
