i never pay attention to the gts versus gt threads because i don't have either one. so, now i need to ask some questions that have probably been answered 10,000 times.

well, anyway, i need something bigger.

i rode my uncle's gts all last weekend. top speed was awesome and would fit me fine there, but to be honest, i feel like it's too big body wise. taking it off the centerstand was annoying.

i've ridden a gt200 once (for like 3 blocks), and i like the body size, it's more akin to my et.

what's the top end of a gt200 anyway? is there much left past 70, or is that about reving it out?

i don't mean to bag on the gts, it's just like it didn't feel like a scooter anymore to me.

Depends on your weight and size/shape.

GT and GTS have nearly the identical top speeds. The GTS is sometimes quicker to get there.

I've hit 86.4 mph.

after about 60 mph, there isn't a vespa made stock that will suddenly have lots of pull.

I've had my GT up to about 83 indicated.

Cruises all day long at 70, no problem.

Maybe you should go back and ride that GT200 again, the GTS and GT have the same body. Only real difference between the two is about 20 lbs--maybe that's what you felt, maybe your memory was playing tricks on you.

By the way, nothing against the GT, it's a pretty nice bike.

Chad the centerstand thing will become second nature to you quickly

Oh yeah...
topped at 72 GPS (with a tail wind and maybe a hair more room to go before revving out.)

I don't know how it translates GPS-wise but I regulary cruise at 75mph indicated.

I have the LeoVince 4Road exhaust so I may be getting a little more top end.

alright, maybe it's my mind playing tricks on me size wise. the taking it off the centerstand issue really bothered me- it felt huge. i'll give them both another look over this weekend.

Yea, I used to ride 2-up at 70, maybe 75 no real sweat. Of course, my GF and I aren't very heavy, but still, riding solo at 75 is absolutely no problem for a GT

86 on cannonball by GPS. I'm light though, 135 at the time.

Running a 140 on the rear. Nothing else special about the bike save a Leo Vince

Chad, I have both the GTS and the GT. The GT is actually harder to get on and off the centre stand than the GTS is. The design of the centre stand is different and the GTS's is easier to use.

WE have both the GT and GTS in our "stable". and we have a gravel driveway ( deep gravel) that my wife does not like negotiating....
Hence I get to drive her GT in and out of the garage about 100 feet each way. and every time I ride that thing I say to myself, This thing is NICE!
GTS is zippy but GT is Luxurious on the throttle.
My 2 cents
PS they both go fast.

I have a GT and my husband has a GTS they basically are the same size and we go at the same speed. I weigh a bit less than him. I found the GTS takes off faster than the Gt. I don't like that. Also, in the mountains, the Gt is carborated and the GTS is fuel injected. I LOVE my GT and my husband would have gotten it also but it didn't come in red. Both GREAT bikes. Ride both and see what you like. Enjoy the shopping!

I have a gt dont know the top speed but YES the centerstand is annoying since I'm on the short side 5'4". I finally broke down and bought a side stand from scooterworks for $36. I like having both. It also gave me a reason to throw a few more items into my shopping cart if you know what I mean! Laughing emoticon

The only that temps me to move up is head winds and long steep hills, other than those the GT still rocks! I've had mine up to 85.9 (GPS). There pretty much the same feel, how ever I think the GT is actually a better hwy bike ...cuz of it fork rake it feels more stable.

either on will be great.

topspeed
I hit right above 87 on my gt, I have put on the Prima performance exhaust, and I only weigh 130lbs(-ish). I have both a center stand and a side stand, for different situations. I was thinking about the gts when I got mine but opted to save the cash versus the extra 40 something extra cc's. Just didn't seem cost effective.

p.s.- I prolly coulda went faster, but I hit traffic on the hwy.
