I just installed my new short windscreen by Cuppini and first let me say that when I opened the box that was delivered from Scooterworks today, I was thrilled to have gotten some extra little gifts inside....a Scooterworks t-shirt and a Vespa keychain! And, I kid you not, I also got a box of lemonheads candy-sitting right on top of all the packaging! What a great bunch of people to send all this great stuff!!! They are my new favorite online store!

OK, I installed the windscreen and what a clusterf**k! I don't think it should have been this difficult but the odd system of expansion bolts and nuts inside of other pieces-jeez! The directions on the thing are cryptic at best but, being a woman, I DID master the engineering concept. However, one of the mounting braces wouldn't tighten correctly like the other one and so it is on and firm enough but not tight. Then, to mount the actual windcreen, I have to say that it isn't easy to get it level, straight, and symmetrical all at the same time. But, it is on and I tried it out.

It works and the ride was soooo much more relaxing than without- I felt like I was driving so much more effortlessly and the ride didn't tire me out. So, despite the install on the thing, the windscreen is a success.

My new riding jacket arrives tomorrow so I will be trying THAT out next!

Cheers!

I ordered the small one which for the cuppini model is 8.5 inches from the top of the headlight on the LX150. I didn't want to have to look through the windscreen so I didn't get the mid size or the Falco brand one (?). It is great.

Congratulations and good job staying focus and getting your windscreen installed.

Just a little advice whenever I install anything that will eventually be cinched down and requires to be evenly installed...try to first get the appropriate hardware / fixtures affixed....then alternate tightening them up...this sometimes helps...

BTW...I too have a flyscreen on my GT200 and was thinking about a mid-size but didn't like the line of sight interference (just me) and the flyscreen seems to work O.K....little buffeting...but seems the although ~ 8" above the headlamp...it deflects higher than we think. I wanted Myth Busters to take this on as a project (posted it on their website; I believe Grant rides an MC)...flyscreen, mid-size and full size....really providing scientific proof of effective the varying sizes are.

Well, the only way Myth Busters would take on a project is if there is something to blow up! It would be interesting to see the effects of various windscreens using a wind tunnel though....put in a little smoke to see where the air currents are going...certainly there has to be some university with a wind tunnel that could take this little experiment on....the University of Md, College Park actually has a wind tunnel.

hi,

nice job scootergirl40 for the screen

i rode my large vespa original screen for 20000kms on my GT200
& finally cuted it as a middle size, less 10cm
for more comfort, i didn't like to watch the road through it, specially when it rains &/or night, you don't see anything!

i have now the option of looking through or looking up, when i want some air ventilation...

For the style, i've bought a second hand short vespa wind screen, for the summer.
i'll be able to feel and report about the differences between the large, the short, & my custom...

i'm quite shure that the large is to high, even for my 1,85m.
In fact it depends on many factors, your size, your position when ridding, and more important what you like...

Yes, you'll have to post some observations to MV on the benefits and cons of each different windscreen. Lots of folks would be interested to read that.
