After I noticed a leak under my bike I took it to the local scooter shop and they replaced my oil sight gauge, which had apparently cracked somewhere inside the body. It's not leaking anymore, but now I'm noticing oil starting to seep out from basically anywhere that there's a gap in the frame. Around the screws and joints where the running board meets the frame especially.

Is there any way to drain or flush all that stuff out of there, or am I just stuck cleaning up the sludge every so often. It's a bit worrisome to think that all my screws are now bathed in lubricant.

Ah yes, I have experienced this issue myself. Try repainting a floorboard with oil seeping under your fresh coat of paint. It's awesome.

You can remove the gas tank and soak up the oil yourself with paper towels. That's my recommendation! Just be careful not to crack the new sightglass in the process.

Oil sight glass
Drained my tanks yesterday to clean fuel filter inside the fuel tank. At the same time I saw that oil sight glass was cracked. No leaks and you could not see the cracks when sight glass was filled with oil. It would have been frustrating to find out this next summer at the middle of best driving season.

I've heard: "Do not fix if it isn't broken". I disagree. Razz emoticon

.... Oil comin from the inside out, had this happen from cracked sight glass ... But more so from fumbling around when pulling tank out to change it and getting bit of oil spillage. Pulling tanks in and out seems an art, not difficult but a bit of a pain. A good layer of oil in there keeps everything lubed and stops it from rusting. Cleaning bits up that are seeping through keeps your bike clean ( on the outside at least). Your choice

I agree. That's why I have two scooters to fiddle, one to ride.
