For some weird reason, when I click on the link that comes to my email (informing me of a notice on the forum) nothing happens.

I had this same problem a couple of weeks ago and it was caused by the AVG toolbar. I uninstalled the AVG toolbar and bingo.........problem solved.
In researching the problem, I read where this can also be caused by having Skype on your computer. I use Firefox with Outlook Express so I'm not sure if either of these solutions also relate to Internet Explorer. I solved my problem by using Google to research it. |

Thanks XLR8. I'm trying to uninstall Skype now (never used it anyway).
PS I like your handle! |

Internet Explorer is prone to all kinds of inexplicable behavior when its cache gets overfull. Deleting all of IE's temporary files is always my first troubleshooting step, because it takes only a few seconds* and far more often than not fixes the problem.
I'll post the specific steps as soon as Windows finishes booting... *IE can sometimes takes a minute or a few to delete its temporary files, but if so, that's an indication that the cache was insanely overfull and desperately needed emptying. |

So uninstalling Skype solved the problem? Good to know.
I'm with Benito--ditch IE! Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari are all much better choices. That said, in case you ever need to clear IE's cache in the future... (These instructions assume you're using IE 8, the latest version.) 1. Go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options. ![]() 2. The Internet Options window will open to the General tab. Under the Browsing history heading, click the Delete... button. ![]() 3. The Delete Browsing History window will open. Under the Temporary Internet Files heading at the top, click the Delete files... button.

How do you capture a screen image like that and how did you highlight with the red marker?

NightWing wrote: How do you capture a screen image like that? The Print Screen key will copy an image of the entire screen to the clipboard. Alt-Print Screen will copy just the active window. From there you can paste the image into whatever image editor you like. On a Mac, the keys are less obvious, but the process is easier. Pressing Shift-Command-3* will save a picture of the entire screen to the Desktop as a .png file named "Picture 1." Use Shift-Command-4 to capture a part of the screen. The mouse cursor will change to cross hairs; you can then click at one corner of the area you want to capture and drag to the opposite corner. The picture is saved as soon as you release the mouse button. To capture a single window without dragging, press Shift-Command-4 and then press the Spacebar. The mouse cursor will change to a camera, and whatever window is under the mouse cursor will be shaded blue. Choose the window you want and click to save the picture. (Note that the saved picture will include the window's transparent drop shadow but not whatever the shadow fell on.) If you don't want to remember keyboard shortcuts, you can also launch the Grab application from the Applications/Utilities folder and use its menus. *The "Command" key on a Mac keyboard is the key with the Apple logo and the ⌘ symbol. ⚠️ Last edited by lostboy on UTC; edited 2 times

Well, I must be a dummy. I tried using Print Screen and the cursor flashed a couple of times, but nothing happened. I guess I don't know how to access Clipboard. I found Clip Organizer, but nothing was there.
OK, I found Clipboard. It's in Microsoft Word in the drop down list under Edit. Strange. |

you can also do a screen grab using mac's preview application ... just go to File-->Grab and you can take a snap of the whole screen or a selection.

In Windows, once you have pressed the Print Screen key, you can then use the menu command Edit | Paste or the keyboard shortcut Control-V to paste the image into any application that can handle images. I've found it helpful to know all the clipboard shortcuts in Windows. Control-C to Copy Control-X to Cut (or to X something out, if you will) Control-V to paste (just because V is next to C, really) Sorry for the confusion. Hope this helps! p.s. Genie, I had never noticed that Grab is integrated into Preview. Thanks for the tip!
