I have a family friend who wants to sell his "Little Honda" PC50. Neither he, nor I, have any idea of what something like this is worth - and there are not a lot being sold on Craigslist to give us a ball park. I'm hoping that some of the members with more moped experience might suggest a fair price. I'm not in the market for one myself, otherwise I'd consider it.

I've posted pictures below. From what I can tell, some had a white plastic leg shield, and others didn't. It is in very good running condintion.

1969-70 Honda PC50 "Little Honda"
Serial number began: PC50-1060413
Available colors: Bright Red and Sky Blue
Fuel tank, front cowl, handlebar grips, and levers were white
Fuel tank stripes: red and blue
Engine was slung under the frame instead of being mounted to the rear wheel
Engine: 49cc OHC single cylinder four-stroke
Transmission: automatic
Starter: pedal start

Here's someone in Canada asking 600 for one.

http://moncton.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-motorcycles-1970-honda-pc-50-W0QQAdIdZ138366870

Here's another for 750.

I would have guessed ~500 myself, but it's old and pretty cool, so it might be worth more than I think. Plus it is a 4-stroke? That's darn cool. I'd say give 600 or 650 a swing.

that is a clean old moped that should bring no less than 600 US. I think you ought to tell them to market 800 US and see what lkind of bites you get. Have you looked at ebay for past history info and such?

SLOW
You won't be able to keep up on many moped rides.
Cute in that you meet the nicest people on a Honda way though.

Thanks everyone for the help. I've been checking craigslist, and googling a lot, and found a relatively recent listing for one in Toronto for $700 Cnd. I thought that was an awful lot, but what do I know?

That small lever on the right side of the engine case above the bicycle pedal is used to disconnect the drive so that you can push the bike without turning over the engine. You need to make sure that it still disengages and engages without sticking. Just a thought.

Cheers,
Bob

Michael, Go get it mate. She is a wee stunner and very cool 8)

Mopeds don't take up much room either. I bought another wee moped last week and my wife assures me it's the last, or else....

Have a wee lookey.

Cheers, Jim

I bet your wife would let you have a few more, if you got them out of the bedroom!

Jim - that is a real beauty of a moped!

I'm just not looking for a moped right now, though that Sachs (and some Tomos models) could certainly change my mind! I do appreciate the help I've gotten from everyone. The person selling it is a friend of the family, and I'd like to help him ensure that the Honda lands in the garage of someone who will care for it.

Bob - Thanks! That is good to know, and I'll make sure that it is checked out.

Michael, I think that wee honda is worth around $1000 US

I am no expert on mopeds but there is a large market for them. And that honda is a gem.

Okay for a static collection, I guess.
And it looks like a lot of fun on the back country road where this guy rode it.
But $1000 worth of fun?
-Well, TEHO...
But I sure as hell wouldn't take that dainty, skinny wheeled thing on crowded city streets,
-what with potholes and crazed cagers and taxis all zooming around you!

You'd be surprised how many people rock all manner of battered up mopeds around here. Of course it pisses the cagers off, but I haven't seen one dead on the side of the road yet. This PC50 is likely less suited for the task, though, given that it is a 4-stroke. I still think that's AWESOME that it has a 4-stroke engine, but I also bet you it's slow as tar.

Saw one in Toronto not too long ago going for $300. cad$
Just missing a side cover, Thought of buying it as a second bike,
But just traded in my Scarabeo 200 and bought a P200E instead.

Didn't want to hunt down parts for the Honda,
When I could get parts very easily for the P200E.

If I were to get a second bike now,
I'd get something that is still current for parts.
