I didn;t finish the story.

As I rode away I notice the sniffling children cowering in the car that is still running with it;s flasher and attitude pointing towards my now vacant parking spot. My heart drops ... as I look down at the damage on my GT. Trying to recall the events that led to the scratches on my scoot, I turn out the one way aisle that I zipped in the wrong way and triumphantly scoffed the empty park, ten minutes earlier. I wonder if I hadn't noticed that he was turning into it and not trying trying to run me over as I innitially thought. I dismiss this, as I enter the roundabout and glance over at my upside down Y shaped flag pole, I notice how the ink from his toe that I had chewed off and used as a pencil was bleeding through the make shift T-shirt flag. I feel a little disapointed that you can barely make out the VESPA as it luffs in the wind from the passing cars that continued to flow around the size ten boot proping up my leaning flag pole. I can feel my cheeks swell and my eyes squint under my helmet as I realize that I am finally feeling the Vespa grin that you guys speak of on here

For the life of me I cannot understand the mentality of people who get upset when a scooter occupies a parking spot. The landlord of the office building that I work in tracked me down several weeks ago and told me that motorcycles and scooters are not allowed to park in the parking lot. I tried to ask why that was (because if I wasn't riding my scooter I'd be in my car and occupying the same parking spot) and he got all upset and said "it's because it's private property (i.e., not a public parking lot) and those are the rules". I now have to find parking out on a nearby street when I ride to the office on my scooter. So, it's okay for me to take one of the parking spots with my car, but not with my scooter. I just don't understand that logic.

if it carries on we'll have to lock the thread and send everybody out into the yard for a few quick laps.

I would write them a letter and tell them that I wanted them to send me a letter, confirming this policy in writing by an officer of the corporation. IF, you can get this letter, you can write to the CEO & Chaiman of the Board telling them that you're going to send a copy along with your story to the local television stations and newspaper companies. If they won't give you a letter, you can still contact the television stations and newspapers with your story. It would make a great story for some enterprising reporter: Especially since there is such a push from the government for people to use more economical transportation. You'll find out pretty quickly if this is really company policy or just some jerk-off with a hard-on for motorcycles & scooters.

Okay, all chest pounding aside. I have been in this situation and getting someone's license number is not that difficult. Write it down (or photo it). File an accident report with the police and turn the license number over to your insurance company. Problem dealt with. Doesn't require a brawl in the parking lot or any of that.

Tactically speaking you NEED to know exactly what your options are prior to any event taking place, which requires forethought. Planning if you will. So if you are uncomfortable with this mindset, then the problem is yourself.

It is really no different than financial planning. The key is to plan to win.
In my previous post on this thread I mentioned some ways you can diversify! Options abound.

Ah...uh...er...I have utterly failed, tactically speaking, to forsee or consider what options might be exercised if I ever found a thread getting on my nips.

My nips were already worn well-nigh down to mere, uh, nubs by cupholder symposia and discussions featuring the notorious treachery of suction attachments. It had never happened to me before; though I'd read about the calamities of others, the chance of me becoming a victim seemed very remote, and I still had no plan in place for dealing with sociopathic liquids.

I have therefore made my decision - I'm gonna shoot the next fawking cupholder that turns on me. I won't be bothering with the police; court rulings have shown that the police have no responsibility for your indivdual beverage security in any event - you're on your own hook as to wet pleats and spilled latte' when the suction thingy lets go, and it's your word against theirs.

Now I am at peace.

and presto your scooter is fixed the guy is in jail !!!!!! Mr D you left a little bit out, you forgot the part where you have to go and spend several hours in the police station waiting around, the mutiple phone calls to your insurance company, the appointment with the adjuster, the three estimates from your panel beaters, a week without your scooter, the trips to the court house, facing that asshole who again threatens you with death as he states he now knows your name and will kill your dog if you don't drop the charges, the disapointment when your only star witness does not show up, If you look at the options facing murder charges like my hero or prolonged logistic battles, this guys choice does not seem that silly.

Dramatic but, at least around here, a wildly overactive description of what actually happens. Filing the accident report is required by your insurance company (and the DMV if there is an injury or the dollar damage exceeds a set value). It is not the basis of a criminal or civil suit for assault (or whatever you were suggesting). If you really have an insurance company that is as difficult as all that to deal with, I'd suggest you get a different one. My own experience is that you give them a description of the accident and information about the fellow or vehicle who damaged your scoot. Then they (your insurance company) repairs your scoot and goes after the guy and his insurance company to recover the damages. They often concede or the issue goes to arbitration. Usually all the insurance company asks from you is a written statement about the accident and any corroboration that you have. (Not sure what this has to do with confrontations, fistfights, or murder charges. My suggestion is to just get the scooter fixed, hopefully at the other guy or his insurance company's expense and move on. If you need to let off steam, best to buy a punching bag.)
