Performed my first mod today. I added a garage door opener switch to my bike. Thanks to those who posted similar mods before... they were a great help! Was much easier to set up than I thought.

looks like you kept the opener in tact which is nice. when i get ready to move in a month, i'll turn in my garage door opener and they'll never know the difference.

it actually reduces the amount of times i have to open and close the glove box... which can be pain sometimes (it stuck on me today and I couldn't get it closed!).

I did get a lot of comments from my motorcycle riding friends about how i did it. a few of them had just double sided taped theirs to their bikes or had to keep it in a backpack.
I guess when you are used to reaching up to the visor in your car to press the button...you kind of miss that ease of use on the bike.
plus its just another reason to tear crap up and pretend that I know what i'm doing!!

yeah the remote was setup pretty well to route the wires... I had to drill in just a little ...but all in all it worked pretty well.

It sure looks a lot safer than trying to open the glove box, and then proceeding to drop your remote in the street in front of your house.

Like so many other luxuries, a garage remote becomes a necessity, once you got used to it. Good job to install one.

awesome! wasn't suspecting that at all. I would try that but my horn would wear out long before the door opened.

Let's not forget. Some riders need to use a remote to open a rolling door/garage door/ gate that does not have a way to open them without the remote due to security requirements.

Some are just lazy... but not all.

we do the garage door opener mod not because we obsolutely "need" it, but because we "can" and because we're obsessed with mods. forget the bulky key chain with the opener. best mod i've done to date. one recommendation though is to ck out radioshack's momentary switch; it's a small, low profile, black button that dissappears when installed. it think it's the best look i've seen.

yeah i got my momentary switch from Radioshack. I was trying to decide between the one I got and the little black button. The radio shack guy said to go with the one I got...he said it was more durable (sticks less). I don't know crap about momentary switch durability so i went with his recommendation. it looks good...the red matches the engine start switch pretty well...so it worked out in the end.

Dead on with the mod reasoning. i had more fun just soldering the thing together...
