How do I know if my shift cross requires replacement? My P125X needed a rebuild for leaky seals and I wanted to have a look see inside the guts. I keep seeing "change the cross if you crack the case" but I wondered if there was a visual cue that it was worn.

I bought the P as a project, not running. No known problems with shifting. Approx 5600 miles. Previous owner couldn't start it, which I believe was a result of a much too tight clutch cable. The case is open, cleaned up, almost ready to go back together. I'm just debating replacing other things while it's apart.
Without specific knowledge though, the shift cross looks fine. What are the signs it's worn? I've never seen a good one so I don't know if mine looks bad.

If you are opening it up it's worth replacing, you dont want to have to open it up again just to replace the cross. Also check things like k/s gear, the gear shims, seals etc, just to be safe

The edge of the four fingers of the cross will be rounded over and not square. Cheap insurance.

Now, where to find one??? I've looked all over motorsport/scooterwest and can't seem to find a listing for a p125x cross. Any other recommended sources?

Seconded. Replace it- with near 6,000 miles it'd need one realitively soon anyways.

Call Motosport. They rock. They have everything you'll need, just not on the website though.

Yeah, they love my VISA, lol! I'll give Max a ring tomorrow-ish. I got hasty and ordered all the fun parts first without much regard to the planned replacement stuff!

If you call them they will be able to hook you up!
P125X is not a hard cross to find.

Hi, if your planning on cracking the case you should replace all soft metal as a general rule of thumb. Cross, brass bush, kick starter gear/ rubber, clutch plates/cork,etc. It's easy to do once it's open and makes you feel real good about your scoot being in top condition. Also it's not that much more $.
Parts are easy if your in the west Motorsports scooter if your in the east Scooter Originali.Best...Brian
