A friend found an ad for an 05 PX 150 limited edition on Craigslist, for something like $3500. The seller claims the bike only has 109 miles on it. My friend sent me a couple pictures the guy had sent, and the first thing that jumped out at me is that there is no number plate or tire pressure chart on top of the glovebox (pics attached). Other than that I don't see anything out of place. Here is the email my friend got with the attachments:

Here are some more pics. There are some minor scratches on the front fender from a take down, but other than that it's flawless. It hasn't been run in a few months, and it needs a new battery which I'm planning to put in before I sell it. I was having some problems with the fuel injection, and they guys at the Vespa shop said that other owners were having the same problem due to the ethanol content of the lower fuel grade. They said that using the higher octane fuel would eliminate the issue. The carb. was recently taken apart, cleaned thoroughly and the spark plug replaced. It has 109 miles on it and the model year is 2005.
Does anyone know of a reason that the number plate wouldn't be on there? Maybe he wrecked it bad enough to have to replace the whole glove box? [/quote]

the air pressure tire sticker is that red and white one on the left, the model plate is the little gray/silver one you can barely see on the right. the stickers are on the legshield above the glovebox.

edit: if you're talking about the serie americana metal plate, yeah, i don't see that.

Actually the red and white one on the left is a warning sticker, and you are correct that the silver one on the right is the VIN. However if this is really a limited edition (and as far as I know you could not get that paint/seat combo on the standard 05 PX 150), there should be a metal plate on the top of the glove box on the left that states what number out of 500 the bike is. The tire pressure sticker should be on top of the glove box, below the VIN plate.

I've got one of these myself, and I bought it new, so I know all my badges are in the right place (although half the paint came off the limited edition plate when I was washing it...wtf?!). I thought maybe he laid it down hard enough to bend up the front end and the plate had to be taken off to repaint the glove box. If that was the case though, how did the VIN plate and warning sticker escape unharmed?

1) The owner said "fuel injection"... so they dont know what they are talking about first off.... and the "previous owners had the same problem" ... this scoot doesnt run or runs poorly or something...

2) a buddy of mine has one of these, and it does not have the numbering plate. I dont know why, or why not, I just know it didnt have it on it when he got it new from a local Vespa shop.

Yeah she's apparently saying she's going to "put a new battery in it and try to get it running." I'm wondering why she doesn't just kick start it...

Whatever you do..take that damn stock exhaust off..it's a cat exhaust and it puts a major strangle hold on the motor's performance.

It's just the color combo and the number plate, plus a coffee table book. Personally I liked the green, and my 'dog shit' seat rides just fine thanks.

I asked me mate to paint one of mine before I sold it. He asked what colour? so I said just mix your leftovers I want it cheap. It came back that shade of green. Sold it as NOS paint.
It looked terrible but you'd have thought I was telling the truth if you had seen the colour. Razz emoticon

Ohh not dissin your seat they're just known as dog shit round here due to the colour

I think the bike would have looked better with a white or cream-colored seat, but then again that would be a pain to keep clean...maybe I should just get a cheap cover.

Back on topic, does anyone know what the deal with the limited edition number plate is? Why would some of them have one but others didn't?
