To each his own I always say... But in my opinion The Dead are the single most overrated band of all time. Take away the acid and festival atmosphere and you have a mediocre band at best. Everyone has their own tastes, mine ranges from The Stones to The Sex Pistols to Mastodon to the Carpenters to The Band to Wilco to Buck Owens to the Foo Fighters.

I had friends who forced them on me all through school, but I never could get into the Dead.



I do kinda like that one song though.
hehehhe , well the Dead was a carnival of color and fun - the band was a part of that and the central focus but truly it was the whole shebang that made it so good. you just had to be there at the live shows to understand what was going on. (the little tab never hurt).
overrated >? , hardly , they were one of the most successful touring bands of all time and they Never repeated performances.
i also do have a diverse interest in music mostly towards Reggae , Funk and World beat music. any how just wanted to have some fun this morning and get my 2 cents in~

Definitely a blast from the past. I spent a couple high school years in Chattanooga, TN, which is not far from Athens. We used to pile into a car on the weekends, stop at a liquor store named Ziggy's on the way out of town, and go see shows at the 40 watt - Pylon, B-52's, Barbecue Killers, REM, The Woggles, etc. God damn I am getting old... Still feel young though. Fuck it.

Once our "manager" became the booking agent for Fitz, we never had to play downstairs again. 8)
