i went to london to see em in the 'ill be your mirror' festival last year ... they where headlining n they did the whole album .. shame jeff wasnt there but it was still amazing ....
it was the first thrash album i bought when it came out.. blew me away n still does ... i sang the lot n came out wet through with a sore throat .............

I've posted this before, but it's relevant to Sonic Youth and one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me.

This is the MTV 120 Minutes contest-winning video I made for Sonic Youth back in the 90's. It can be found on their DVD "Corporate Ghost: The Videos 1990-2002"

This was before I had any clue I would end up editing video for a living.

thanks. It was fun making it. I made the puppets, stage, instuments and everything on the clock while working the art dept of a local screen printer. I shot it, while the guys in my band worked the puppets. my daughter did the moshing animals at the beginning. all of our names are on the credits of the dvd. All edited in camera too. Plus there was a trip to new york, an appearance with Sonic Youth on MTV, and cash money. Pretty cool time.

cool, I totally remember that video when it came out. I love SY and can tell you where and when I was for all the albums and videos I saw and heard. Its cool to be able to tell you that you affected me when I was willing to listen. thanks man.

I harassed Thurston half drunk at 303 gallery in NYC for not making more backwards b-side records like the 1st blue record on SST. He was cool about it.

At a Cult show I was at years ago a guy from the crowd jumped up on stage with the band. The bouncers rushed on to grab him but Ian Atsbury waved them away. The guy was stoked as Ian had his arm around him while he was singing. Next thing Ian throws him to the ground, sticks his hand down the back of the guy's pants and reefs out his undies! The bouncers then dragged him off and no doubt kicked the shit out of him. Good times.

The bouncers beat the guy up because Ian gave him a wedgy??? Where's the justice in that?
